Being Canadian, I'm rather partial to O Canada :p But for other anthems, I'd have to go with South Africa's. It just sounds really funny, in a good sort of way. If you watch the World Cup, coming this Friday I think, you'll hear it a lot

See I don't think the US Anthem is a very good anthem just for the fact that most people can't sing it. An Anthem shouldn't be such that you need to be a trained opera singer to do it.

And if you perform it solo, everyone is hanging on to see if you can hit the high note without breaking.

While not a national anthem, I love Louisiana's state song: You are My Sunshine. I think it beautifully illustrates a love for the state, what the state ecompasses, and personal emotion. It is such a good song that everyone knows it. Any other state songs you can think of?

Good thread btw

Land of Hope and Glory is not the Anthem of England. in fact officially there isn't one. As God Save the Queen (which is a really bad song) is a one fits all for all the UK.

If there ever was one then I think most people who opt for Jerusalem or I vow to thee my country.

Heres my favorite, it's my favorite because Its my home country and although I am part of the United Kingdom, I don't really ever sing God Save The Queen. Here it is.

The national anthem of Wales.

I think most people in the UK feel that way. Essentially it's time to ditch GSTQ

Having grown up in Detroit [aka ‘Hockeytown’], I’ve heard this tremendous anthem many, many times. It’s a goodie...

Go Wings.

New Zealand National Anthem all day.

Good grief!
I can't stand it. It sounds like the worst of a Methodist singalong (thankyou Mr Bracken) when played plainly, or the worst of a pentecostal faith-song when played with beats.
I never sing it, never stand for it and don't agree with the words. I find it dreary, outdated and for a 'secular' country, remarkable!

I love this anthem, however:
