U.N. council hits defiant Iran with new sanctions

The U.N. Security Council imposed a fourth round of sanctions on a defiant Iran on Wednesday over a nuclear program the West suspects is aimed at developing the means to build atom bombs.

Western powers had wanted much tougher measures -- some targeting Iran's energy sector -- but Beijing and Moscow succeeded in diluting the steps outlined in the 10-page resolution.

I don't see how this is going to do anything but make the situation worse.

Iran has every right to a civilian nuclear program. Besides that this isn't gonna stop them. The NPT or sanctions hasn't stopped any nation from getting nuclear technology if they really want it.

This is just going to give the fundamental right wing Muslims in Iran more power.
