Wow, this is going to be picked up by mainstream soon I would hope.

I think this is what the wikileaks founder was talking about a few weeks ago when he was saying that this would blow the door wide open, so to say.

“If he really had access to these cables, we've got a terrible situation on our hands," said an American diplomat. "We're still trying to figure out what he had access to. A lot of my colleagues overseas are sweating this out, given what those cables may contain.”

Time to bust out the popcorn...

I believe your right, I remember when he posted that there was data that was going to be on wikileaks that was earth shattering. That might explain how a few weeks ago he was running around the planet and australia has confiscated his passport for sometime. And in the article he is saying that it isn't so. For this man and group to say that they don't have this information, it must be so juicy and controversial that he's afraid that they will find a way to make up evidence and get him arrested and his data taken. There shaking in their boots because they are afraid those world politicians will know what our ambassadors and politicians think of them and/or their secrets. Not to mention if any of those govt. officials made any comment on their boss (the president) that wasn't to good.

The "leaks" sound like intentional ones to me...why would they give us this information.

Do not trust them.

I dont know if "savers" is Aussie for "banks" but you can rest assured you will NEVER be bailing out your average Americans from anything. Nothing our government does is about us, nothing.

And Noam Chomsky made your other point beautifully. I paraphrase;

"Its not about race, or gender, or religion, those things are distractions. Its the rich against the poor. It always has been."

I can't help but feel some part of this was set up. Did this guy seriously have the know-how to avoid detection while he downloaded 260,000 documents yet at the same time was dumb enough to admit to a stranger online that he did something illegal, especially something that could get him executed for treason? That would be like a murderer going online to a chat room and bragging to everyone how he killed someone; I can't believe anyone would be that stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if this was just TPTB trying to drum up more conflict for war, justify government control of the internet, etc.

That's certainly going on, right now, and probably always has. It has the advantage of leaving the possibility open that you'll do what we'd like face to face, while making sure you have a lot on your plate to deal with other than causing us grief. If I didn't mind doing some time, I could write you a book

I dont get it . Dont you wanna know ? Isnt what's this site is all about ? Or am i not old enough here to be disgusted ? two weeks now and it already happened a few times. that's just awareness.

This is a good thing. I hope these documents ARE leaked. It'll be a very good look into our Governments and is something that's been needed for a VERY long time.

Once these documents hit the internet, it's game over for them. This leak can't be stopped and they know it.

Bring said documents on. I've got plenty of time to read them and even more to analyze them. Yes indeed.

Yeah, I'm almost certain SOMETHING in them is going to cause a 'national security' concern. That being said, it's something I'm sure the Government can handle. We NEED this. We WANT this.

The positives of this type of release far out-weighs the possible negatives, in my opinion.

I have my own line drawn in the sand and this Traitor has Crossed IT!

I thought traitors lie...This TRAITOR may just release the truth

It has nothing whatsoever to do with finding truth or not.

It has everything to do with the manner in which diplomacy functions.

These cables will have a lot more than what A 'really' thinks of B. or who C thinks is a real PIA.

A lot of embarrassment to go around. How would YOU like to be in the middle of negotiations and suddenly everything you reported back home becomes public knowledge?

Hopefully this is the ultimate Coup De Ta by our Army and they plan on exposing the corrupt government we have, so the American people will finally stand up and beg them to remove them from office.

Manning’s arrest was first reported by Wired magazine, which said it had obtained a copy of an internet chat log in which Manning bragged to a former computer hacker about having leaked the video and the diplomatic cables to the website.

I bet this punk was just bragging though and now is being used by someone to shut down the web site. If true and the Army wasn't for it being released then the web site or everything in the sites host country would be turned off so it wont get out.

It's amazing how easy it is to smuggle a USB drive, CD-R, or the like. Once it's out, it's out. There's no stopping it. Once it hits the Internet, it's game over. Checkmate.

Hey, why not tell us anyway? We all have to die of something. Its not about dying. Its about how you live. I would rather, personally, to take the chance of knowing the truth and then getting nuked because I knew it. None of us are getting out of this alive anyway.

Besides, if you DID have info that was that important, telling us before the golden ticket winners, (as you say) are done getting moved just might mess things up a bit and make it all that much more exciting.

Just sayin'.

What if things are released that cause a war along with the death and suffering it would lead too?

This could be like playing with a landmine.

I have no doubt there are those so detached from reality they would simply say reveal it and let us read it, no matter how much damage it would cause. People so selfish and so into themselves they would never consider the ramifications of releasing such information.

Oddly enough I believe those who will scream the loudest for its release are the last people on earth that should have access to such information. They simply don't care. They want their Pacifier and they want it now! So what if people are hurt, just so they get what they want.

I'm not so hot on the idea of sources that obtain information by criminal means either. In particular if it's information that could ignite things way beyond their control.

Valid argument. That being said, we, the people, need a better understanding of how our Government works. Lately, we've seem to lost control of it's operations.

I understand that it COULD trigger war. Hell, it could start WW-III. I believe however that the risk of it's release and the positives that could come from it outweigh the risks involved.

I have said it once, and won't say it again (well maybe I will ;-p

But true resistance/change won't come from any loud organized march/protest (Tea Party Movement, etc...), NO TRUE CHANGE WILL OCCUR FROM THAT ONE LONE DISGRUNTLED PERSON that is from all outward appearances your neighbor, the kid down the street that went off to join the military and chose an intelligence specialist job/MOS, or the quiet girl you barely remembered from high school all those years ago but is now employed by the government and works with highly classified info....yup it will be one of THEM that all of a sudden sees what has/is truly taking place in this country and around the world and all of a sudden realize that they (much like me and many others here I am willing to bet) have been LIED TOO AND DECEIVED their entire life, and now that life is about to change in a VERY BAD WAY.

It will be one of them that will make the BIGGEST contribution to bringing down this now fragile stack of cards ;-) Remember folks...it won't be the organized militia, or masses in protest that brings about change as they will only make themselves a target for being labeled as "terrorists" setting the stage for a quick and easy round up to their centralized locations. This fight will be a silent fight (at least in the beginning...as I feel it is right at this very moment), and as such we must remember to lay low, keep a low profile but plan...plan...plan by getting the word out to the masses (as it will be them that will see those that are awakened and being labeled as "terrorists" by this fraudulent gov as they won't know any better as they are still asleep and brainwashed by the idiot box in their living room).

We must see this 22 year old hopefully (as we do not know...nor may we never know what his true intentions were as we won't be able to trust anything that eventually gets released to us), but he hopefully is a patriot, and we must hope for more of these true heroes to do the right thing and EXPOSE THIS LIE!! And at the same time we must all remain calm, cool, and collective and NEVER SLEEP because you can't bet your bottom dollar that those who wish us harm are never sleeping!! We have REAL people on here from all over the globe, in different time zones...and it is that right there why we can do this on a 24/7 basis. Continue to collect and report any and all civilian intelligence, keep low, and take care of ourselves and our families by preparing for what I am afraid will be a global collapse that seems to be coming nearer and nearer each and every day.

Just my .02

i predict this story wont reach mainstream news because there is a massive attempt by the federal government to sweep these people under the carpet and their attempts to whistleblow.

I find myself torn.

I want the info out in the open. If it reveals that laws were broken by our government then we need to clean house and do it in a public way - for the world to see.

Screw the reputation of the USA - the world all ready thinks the worst anyway. Cleaning house might help our rep.

================================================

Yet. I don't want something to come out that is detrimental to our national security - lives of our people - military or civilian.

================================================

It all depends on what the info is.

I suspect most of the power players have the attitude that the end justifies the means. They use corrupt means to justify preservation of the USA. Preservation of their paychecks is more likely.

I'm sick of all the corruption. If wars are planned, what is our objective? Protect oil? If wars aren't planned then bring our troops home and protect our borders. Quit wasting time with oil. Focus our resources on green tech.

Are we hanging around in the middle east to be ready to protect Israel? I think we could do that with carriers and subs. I'm pretty sure Israel can kick a$$ pretty good without US baby-sitting Iran.

=================================================

This is either about protecting lives or protecting reputations. If it's reputations, let them go down. If it's about lives then get them out of harms way. Bring our troops home to protect the USA.

Hey Obama - either crap or get off the pot.
