Actually - having an alliance is not the same as being ONE.

If that was the case, then there is no treason taking place here.

I think that leak is related to the Icelandic financial meltdown, and most likely leaked from Iceland, as they have gained many supporters there.

This primarily being caused by the release of Kaupthing documents, and the proposal of IMMI, which could make Iceland a journalists safehaven, or at least best protected country so far.

Thank you...I had not listened to that speech in some time. It's just as relevent today as then. Free men indeed, and once you've tasted it, you cannot quench it with anything else. As an American, I've always loved my country, but I also know the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

This is an awesome thread and one of the best!

I'm sure it will become a teaching aid for the alphabet agencies at Texas A & M school of BUSH to reinforce why there is a classification "Eyes Only" used for top secret correspondence.

Please Read this thread!

Lol for some reason your post makes me nervous but hey... Better dead than a slave, IMO.

If there is some REALLY juicy stuff like open discussions for human slavery, unwarranted sanctions on countries, groups... possible assassinations and other illegal activities the elites will not allow this to happen, they will retreat into their bunkers and destroy the world you're right.

All secrets known

I can't wait to see how this plays out.

How great would that be if every country had a few people like this doing the same?

Well, someone's in a lot of trouble, and that ought to encompass any number of people.

One, it's sort of sad that you'd have a 22 yo IA with a TS/SCI who'd decide one day to just start plundering around on JWICS and SIPRNET looking for stuff to peek at.

Two, if he didn't have any need to BE looking at the contents of diplomatic communications, he shouldn't have had access to it, clearance or no. I'm amazed he COULD look at it. Grant you, I'm not about to hustle up to work and see if I can plunder in there too with my access. I've got access to JWICS as well, and generally, I don't try to go anywhere I'm not supposed to be. If I don't need to know it, I'd just as soon not be exposed to it, it reduces the possibility of accusations and fingerpointing later.

Three, what was he doing on JWICS and SIPRNET totally unsupervised for? It's not like he found diplomatic traffic just laying there, it had to take a lot of online time. You'd think that would show up on a review somewhere, unless his job required him to do pretty much nothing but be on there all day.

Four, who's running that installation? If you bring something into our SCIF, it's not coming back out in one piece except in very limited circumstances. This assclown was taking CD-RW disks in and out of the SCIF. I won't let you out with a cell phone, and I've got a collection of them to prove it. You bring in a CD, it stays, whether it's a CD ROM or not. It's going out shredded or in a burn bag, but you won't be getting that or a flash drive back. If the guy's JWICS connection wasn't in a SCIF, it ought not have media writers on it. Nor USB or 1394 jacks. At least, not ones you can use without a key, which you won't have one of.

Careers ought to end up and down the line on this one. It sounds like they weren't running a very tight ship. Depending on what he revealed, he could be up for the surprise death penalty. At least he's military, he'll get a trial. If you do this as a civilian, and it's the "wrong" material, and they can't easily convene a jury of sufficiently cleared people, you can be sentenced to death by a federal judge alone at a closed hearing. I don't know if it's ever happened, but you generally get that part recited aloud to you when you're read onto a project.

I said this on another thread and I'll say it here.
Brad is not a traitor.
He is a true Patriot hero who has a conscience
and wants the corruption and tyranny to end.

God bless him.
If it were up to me,
he'd get a medal of valor.

Thank you Brad

Wow, some diplomatic cable telling people how we really think might get loose. Think of all the bad feelings when people find out American Ambassador X thinks the Ambassador from country Y is a big Poo Poo head!

And if there is something juicy in there? well good! Americans need to see why we have earned such a bad rep around the world.

He will be tried for treason and more than likely executed.

A punishment I support if this is indeed true.

It was a combination of both poor information security and a lapse in the physical deterrent as well.

When I was an admin for the software team developing the B2 navigation suite, the group policy did not allow users to access USB drives. Our towers (Dell at the time) did not have floppy or optical drives. All traffic was forwarded to a transparent proxy - any and all emails sent from the facility were reviewed by security personnel before transmission. All user's desktops were displayed on a wall in the NOC via muliple projectors.

We had a software engineer bring his personal laptop in one day - once a week we reminded people that personal devices like these were not allowed. We saw him bring it in, we allowed him to bring it in (watching on camera). When he tried to leave - we took it from him - escorted him a hanger in the building and proceeded to go to town on his laptop with a sledge hammer. We then removed the memory chips and hard drive - gave him back the 300 other pieces and bid him a good evening.

If other countries don't trust that we can keep diplomatic communiques off the nightly news, it will close off all sorts of lines of communication we might have otherwise have had.

Remember how they wound down the Cuban missile crisis. All back-door stuff. If no-one trusts us, you won't be able to resolve things that way. And a LOT of stuff gets done that way. You really really don't want every negotiation between the US and country X done by the book in a public forum in every circumstance. There are times that call for that. There are times that's a bad bad idea.

Which truth? That we sometimes smile and curtsy while we fund your next-door neighbor to cause you trouble?

That's certainly going on, right now, and probably always has. It has the advantage of leaving the possibility open that you'll do what we'd like face to face, while making sure you have a lot on your plate to deal with other than causing us grief. If I didn't mind doing some time, I could write you a book.

Or are you thinking he'll find out about UFOs or whatnot? You don't want to know about that, it'll jack your blood pressure.

You are so right. I am glad someone else realizes that many at the top arent there because they are competent or the best at what they do, but because they are so screwed up they can be manipulated into doing the most morally disgusting things that a really competent and healthy human would never do.

Edit to add; And to the main point, I SOOOO hope this guy actually did leak those documents to someone who will expose them. His goose is cooked either way, I hope he really did what he claims he did.

He IS a national hero if he did.
