While I'm sure what he is saying is true.
He is basing his claims off of an interview with a 15 yr. old kid, and his "gut" feeling.
Is there anyone that lives in the area that can back up his claims of civilians being arrested for taking pictures, and having their cameras confiscated?
edit: He just said something about the "100's of UN vehicles" parked at an airport near there (FL I think).
There is a thread about the vehicles here already. Multiple ATS members, myself included, have called the airport and found out that they were there for storage by KIA Motors.
I don't know if he's fear-mongering or what, but needs to get his story straight on this.
Good day folks!

Found this report a little over the top myself.
I can say that I have read about cameras being confiscated.
UN vehicles for storage by KIA motors?
The mass arrests I find unbelievable.
There are NO...repeating, NO UN vehicles to speak of.
The mistaken UN vehicles turned out to be inventory of KIA Motors in storage at this particular airport.
There are still those that try to make a conspiracy out of everything though. And sadly they'll go on believing that the white cars, that are no longer being stored there in fact, were indeed UN vehicles.

Your wrong. It has been repeatedly asserted on this thread that civilians are being punished or incarcerated for taking pictures. Mr. Fox is a citizen that took video and it has been released. He was not arrested. His video was not taken. His claims are that these events are not able to be photographed or filmed without reprisal. He has suffered no reprisal.
Do not attempt to change Mr Fox's literal statements into statements meant to be taken in spirit. He claimed what he himself has done is impossible and by doing so has proven himself to be in error.

...news photographers are complaining that their efforts to document the slow-motion disaster in the Gulf of Mexico are being thwarted by local and federal officials—working with BP—who are blocking access to the sites where the effects of the spill are most visible. More than a month into the disaster, a host of anecdotal evidence is emerging from reporters, photographers, and TV crews in which BP and Coast Guard officials explicitly target members of the media, restricting and denying them access to oil-covered beaches, staging areas for clean-up efforts, and even flyovers. Last week, a CBS TV crew was threatened with arrest when attempting to film an oil-covered beach.
“It’s a running joke among the journalists covering the story that the words ‘Coast Guard’ affixed to any vehicle, vessel, or plane should be prefixed with ‘BP,’ ” says Charlie Varley, a Louisiana-based photographer. “It would be funny if it were not so serious.”

Why in the world would he be lying about this? Seriously! Why?
I really dont get that part..
Looks like the FAA is closing down the Gulf of Mexico to 'unauthorized' aircraft...This coming as a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued late Wednesday night that just popped up in my flying emails this morning:
No pilots may operate an aircraft in the areas covered by this NOTAM (except as described).
Pursuant to 14 CFR section 91.137(a)(1) temporary flight restrictions are in effect for deepwater horizon/mississippi canyon (mc252) incident cleanup and reconstitution operations an area bounded by: 290500n/0904000w or the leeville /lev/ vortac 258 degree radial at 30.1 NM to 300000n/0890000w or the gulfport /gpt/ vortac 169 degree radial at 24.7 NM to 300000n/0870000w or the crestview /cew/ vortac 196 degree radial at 52.2 NM to 280000n/0870000w or the panama city /pfn/ vortac 208 degree radial at 149.6 NM to 280000n/0904000w or the leeville /lev/ vortac 201 degree radial at 76.3 NM to the point of beginning at and below 3000 feet AGL excluding the airspace outside of 12 nautical miles from the us coastline. This area is also depicted on U.S. Gulf coast VFR aeronautical chart id helgc as an area bounded from south pelto 2/sp02 then to south pass 6/sp06 then to chandler 39/ch39 then to pensacola 984/pe984 then to desoto canyon 635/dc635 to south timbalair 242/st242 and then back to original point. All aircraft operations are prohibited except those flights authorized by ATC, routine flights supporting offshore oil operations; federal, state, local and military flight operations supporting oil spill recovery and reconstitution efforts; and air medical and law enforcement operations.
All pilots operating within and near this area including the shoreline should exercise extreme caution due to the numerous low level operations associated with the deepwater horizon/mc-252 incident 3000 feet and below.
Far be it from me to second-guess the FAA but this may cut down on the number of spill pictures and videos coming out from private pilots in the area... Map with closure area in red here. tfr.faa.gov... Eyes wide shut?

Looking at the old photo of Green Cove Springs, one will see Kias(?!!?) that are identical white vehicles that appear to be FULL SIZE VANS, something that Kia doesn't sell, as far as I know.

The shipment of KIA cars, all white and the same model, is consistent with how model shipments are made. Also, since the steep downturn in car sales in the US, the auto distributors have been scrambling to lease open areas from anyone they can lease the space from to store the shipments that come in. The cars at the dealerships have not been moving, and the coasts (East and West) have enormous parking lots that have been storing new imports for the last few years. This sounds very consistent, especially the uniform color part of it. 1,000 white KIA sedans sounds like a shipment that has nowhere to go until some people start buying KIA's at some of these dealerships.

This sounds like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" the movie. Maybe the oil spill, while real, is being used as a reason to clear the area for some other as-for-now unknown reason.
