I always asume the worst possible scenarios. Be it nuclear, an asteroid, Yellowstone in the worst possible way. After something like that i just don't see much sense in going on with my life.

So there would be no more shopping malls, or McDonalds, or fancy restaurants. What's left?

There would be a large group of people that have all been hand chosen personally, and all have been chosen to meet at a designated area, and we proceed from there to the shelter.

I have a place that is about 5 miles from the nearest paved road (it's a dead end road so hardly ever used anyway) that no one really has any reason to go. It takes about 30 minutes to drive and another 1 1/2 hour hike. I started to make a supply cache there. I have a water tight bin with eating utensils and some canned food and water and another bin with two 4-man tents and 4 sleeping bags hidden there. It's not much yet but I have a list long of other things that I will begin moving as money/time permits.

If anything happens, I'll be packing up what I can and moving with my wife, 3 kids and one close friend. It will probably take about 4 hours to hike with the kids but I feel save there and there is a fresh water spring close by.

I'm pretty sympathetic. Even if disabilities might slow me down since I originally planned going alone, if I see you I'm taking you to safety with me.

I agree. Nothing is more important than your family. I would die for mine as well. It sounds like you really have a good plan in case the SHTF. One must hope that we don't enter into this scenario. I know that if we do, I am very strong and will survive. To have love and faith are the most important....along with a few mad skills. If you don't have those things, then we will die of hopelessness.

On subject- My entire family on my dad's side of about 20-30 people is very close and we have already discussed that we would all meet at a certain place. We have a huge range of skills from hunting experts to construction experts to life long farmers. Together we have more than enough firearms.
