Israel's no-compromise attitude to aid convoys could be tested again after two Lebanese organisations pledged to send boats to Gaza in the next few days. Reporters Without Borders is attempting to assemble 25 European activists and 50 journalists for a boat leaving Beirut. The Free Palestine Movement is planning a similar attempt.

George Galloway, the founder of Viva Palestina, announced in London that two simultaneous convoys "one by land via Egypt and the other by sea" would set out in September to break the Gaza blockade. The sea convoy of up to 60 ships will travel around the Mediterranean gathering ships, cargo and volunteers.

Both Turkey and Iran have offered armed escorts to any such efforts... Turkish PM Erodgen is even considering going to Gaza himself to break the blockade. can you imagine Israel trying to stop 60 ships with armed escorts??? it isnt possible.. perhaps the beginning of World War Three will start in September because of this... as many of us have said before, "We live in interesting times".

These "activists" are idiots simply put. Imagine it like this, it is indeed possible for the Israelis to counter these guys. These aid ships certainly are not going to go all at once, it would make no sense especially given these things take coordination.
Also given the obviously limited infrastructure that the Gazan seaports have, it's like the Battle of Thermopylae.
They're trying to shove everything they can through a tiny space, add to the fact that this is not their home playing field so they have absolutely no idea what they're getting into or how to go about this. The Israelis are saying, "Come and get me."

I applaud these people for their effort and solidarity. I have donated in past for similar aid groups last was the earthquake and will do now for Gaza. Due to my work I wouldn't be able to make the trip myself but hoping these guy's get through and more aid boats go.

If they're backed by IRGC then Israel will happily destroy every last one of them.

60 aid ships on their own could prove a difficult task to force into their harbour, but not impossible.

the israelis only have 18 vessels in their navy.. they would not be able to stop 60 aid ships.. no way.. if they JUST had iranian escorts, they would happily bomb them from the air yes and it would be called a massacre and the # would still hit the fan. if it had turk escorts, it would be much different, and if it had both, oh boy...

I am so glad the palestinians are finally getting some much needed relief. I feel that it is only a by product of various nations posturing against israel and perhaps trying to start the fighting. But it is fabulous that these people are finally getting some of the essentials that they need. I agree if iran alone escorts the aid ships israel will indeed sink them, however if turkey were to send along a few battleships and perhaps an air squadron I don't see israel doing very much except whining. Though what would be the protocol for the ships from turkey or iran to enter the gaza/israeli territorial waters? Could israel then launch an offensive against these ships for breaching their territory?

Hi folks, I reveived this E-mail from George Galloway this morning -

Viva Palestina founder George Galloway, speaking to a crowd of around 20,000 protesting outside the Israeli Embassy in London, revealed the latest plan to bring about the end of the siege on Gaza.

Two simultaneous convoys - one by land the other by sea - will set forth on SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 12th bound for Gaza. Viva Palestina, the International Committee to break the Siege on Gaza and any allies who will join us will organise the two convoys

The land convoy will leave from London and travel across Europe to Turkey, Syria and ultimately through the Rafah Gate into Gaza. Co-operation will be offered and sought with all relevant governments and agencies. It is expected the convoy will pick up vehicles and volunteers in each country through which it passes. The target is to enter Gaza with 500 vehicles

The sea convoy will travel around the Mediterranean gathering ships, cargo, volunteers from each country. The target is to enter Gaza with sixty ships

The aim will be to arrive on Gaza's frontiers at the same time. And to enter with the world's largest ever aid convoys. And to thereby render the siege null and void

HUGE news. This date will go down in history people.

Here's george talking to the people on Saturday -

These acts are intended to provoke a violent response from Israel.

There are forces in the region behind all of this who want to use this issue to demonize Israel and it is working well.

Once enough world opinion has turned against Israel then they will strike, holding faith that the world will then agree that Israel had it coming, or brought this upon themselves.

It is working very well, if they can provoke the Israelis into violence once more on a flotilla, or aid ship and flood the media and internet with more anti-Israel propaganda they can then launch a series of damaging "terrorist" attacks on Israel.

Israel would be wise not to take the bait.

I think we shall now have a snowball effect, where this is going to go full steam ahead.

Uncertain times ahead.

No what we have here is a bloody well orchestrated propaganda war, and the Iranians are winning.

Israel may have underestimated the intelligence and covert capabilities of their enemies, especially their ability to manipulate the media and world opinion.

I can't see how this will end any way, but badly.

If these morons are dumb enough to send a ship from Lebanon who is at a defacto state of war with Israel then they deserve to have it sunk and Israel has every right too. Turkey would be foolish to think Israel wont respond harshly to anymore ships flying their flag.

Israel don't care what it looks like because they are demonised whatever they do. Israel can do no right in these peoples eyes.

Good job Gomer you just confirmed your roll in Biblical prophecy to get a beating by your little neighbor to the south.

The Islamics are ruining Turkey and Israel will make them pay for their aggression.

Hopefully the U.S. is making plans to move their bases out of Turkey and voting them out of NATO.

Anything seems to attract violence from iserail as i'm sure you will agree and now those that iserail has pushed around for so many years are going to sort the school ground bully out in the full knowlage that iserail will call upon it's big brother in the USA but the USA who gave Iserail a big stick in the form of nukes had better consider it's action carefully because many of the people of Europe are not going to take any more and thats before i talk about the muslim world, Russia, China and NK.

These zionists that have taken control of america might want to start world war three but i'm not too sure if your average combat soilder has not worked out whats going on already and many americans don't agree with whats going on.

I do not agree, Israel is as much a victim as they are a bully, there are two sides in this conflict, and only one is seen as a villain.

Israel may call upon the USA when things get tough, but times have changed, believe it or not. The USA is more worried about global opinion these days, and if Israel's enemies can successfully turn global opinion against Israel, then the USA may not be so quick to rush to Israel's aid.

The Obama administration has in many ways already made it clear that Israel is pretty much on its own in these matters.

The enemy states in strong opposition to Israel are not wasting this opportunity.

Heck, much of the world and even ATS has already developed a very strong anti-Israel opinion.

They are cornering and isolating an enemy in preparation for something.

I'm sure we will see soon enough what that something is.

As long as you are going to donate make sure it is not something on the contraband list, such as CASH. Send something you know will get through the blockade because if it is cash, you are supporting a internationally known terrorist group known as Hamas, to continue to oppress the Palestinians by continually firing rockets into Israel.

I am pretty sure you may have made an incorrect estimate. The IDF does not have to wait for them to enter the Israeli waters, nor would Egypt, they can confront them in international waters if they see fit. If Israel feels threatened then they should wait until these boats are ready to dock and then assault them, simply, these ships should dock at Ashdod as prescribed and accepted by other organization.

Those 18 are official navy ships. Im sure they can do like the Iranians and just use some speed boats and mount machine guns on them and increase the number exponentially lol.
