I think it's obvious who would win the outcome of any sort of skirmish but it's the implications of the future that worry me.

The US and Isreal would love to get their hands on Iran. Look how big it is and then theirs Iraq and Afghanistan either side of it. Do you think Russia and China will just sit back and let the US, their number one enemy get a massive influence in the middle east? Imagine from the mediterranian to the border of China all full of US bases. You already have bases in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Listen it's not about the people, they will put them incharge with the policies that are set... all they want is Oil contracts and military bases, sod the people.

However I think the US if they are wanting to go down this route should most definately consolidate Iraq and Afghanistan for another decade before taking on Iran. It's not Iran that's a problem it's everything else that comes along with it.

Lets hope that Iran is "persuaded" to stay in their waters.

The blockade is to stop Iran from delivering missiles to Hamas. The stated goal of Hamas is the elimination of Israel. Not peace. Not a two State solution. The complete and utter destruction of Israel. Israel either defends itself or ceases to exist.

Any ship escorted by Iran will be filled with weapons. If they did this and they won't, it would indeed be the end of Israel, Iran or both. Honestly though, it would be the end of Iran. At some point reality has to enter the subject.

The saddest part of Iran becoming a pile of rubble, is the Iranian People. Lets hope they succeed in taking down their own government before it destroys them in its quest to destroy Israel. There simply will be no winners.

One thing I see lacking in these discussions in general is alternatives. If Israel ends the blockade, how do they stop the missile shipments to Hamas. You can't ignore an enemy who's sole goal is your complete removal from the planet earth. Or do people mean they also want all the Jews killed? People can't have it both ways. Many here seem to pretend they can, but they can't.

If a person sides with Hamas and Iran, they clearly want Israel to be destroyed along with all of its citizens. There is no third side here. It scares me how many are in lockstep with Israels destruction, but pretend they are not. This is getting eerily close to things that led up to the atrocities of WW2.

As long as Hamas is in charge of Gaza, Hamas will be personally responsible for the suffering of the Palestinians. To pretend otherwise is a lie and there sure are a lot of phony lying pricks around the world these days.

I'll never understand this rampant anti-Semitic mindset spreading across the world. The goose-stepping will resume any moment now.

Iran won't escort any ships however. This is just more fuel for the fire from the people who taught us that earthquakes are caused by promiscuous women. Of course that does explain Southern California.

Hmm, lets go one step further....

Why not port the ships in Egypt and let Egypt deliver the aid as they have offered...

Anyone who thinks aid has anything to do with this have been fooled.

Wow....this could indeed be a major development. With tensions already high with regards to the naval blockade, Iran just upped the stakes. If anyone takes Iran up on this offer, this could escalate very quickly. Then again, this may be just what Israel wants - a confrontation with Iran. If this confrontation takes place in international waters, who would be in the right....Israel, or Iran, and who would the majority of the people support?

Either Iran has a great sense of humour or they are seriously asking for a kicking. not only do they make their offer knowing israel would know and prepare for such an eventuality but they offer it as basically military aid to run the blockade! that is clearly a feeble attempt to either
a. provoke israel to clash with them in international waters. or
b. curry favour on the international stage

As an American, I WANT NO PART in Israels genocidal actions in the Gaza strip, and its current pirate operations.

I am glad Obama is not taking action on either side... and i would rather see OBAMA liberate the Gaza strip from Israel.

Let Israel live on its own. No intervention, no support, no more money or aid to Israel!

imo any action by the U.S to "liberate" another country would surely end up in another failed occupation and/or clear resource hunting expedition.
Before you rant at me know that I like America....I just don't like their foreign policy

sorry ugie1028 deleted his post while i was replying

just to point some things out

The Hamas movement is ready to recognize agreements signed with Israel, and in fact recognize Israel, but only within the '67 borders, senior Hamas member Khaled Suleiman said Wednesday.

www.ynetnews.com...

Mr Abbas yesterday secured an agreement that commits all parties in government to recognise Israel and authorises him to negotiate a final agreement to establish an independent Palestinian state on territories occupied in 1967.

www.guardian.co.uk...

It looks like the topelected officials in the Palestinian Hamas party are signaling that they accept Israel's right to exist. Last week the highest-ranking Hamas leader, Prime Minister Ismail Haniya, told Israel's most prestigious newspaper, Ha'aretz: "If Israel withdraws to the 1967 borders, peace will prevail and we will implement a cease-fire [hudna] for many years."

www.commondreams.org...

more in google, so whats with the BS that they just want to wipe israel of the face of the planet?

and yes Hamas are responsible for the blockade and other crap israel are doing to the palestinians

Considering the hypcritical nature of these self proclaimed humanitarians that get off on the feeling they get from helping terrorists in need, I fully expect one of these "humanitarian groups" to make this deal with the Devil and officially kick off WW3. And if any of them do, it makes their intentions clear.....they are nothing more than rabble rousers....."people" who want to stir the pot and kick off a war against Israel.

The IDF is not going to allow a boat to deliver aid to the Gaza without being inspected, nor should they, regardless of them being escorted by Iranians or not. And if the Iranians open fire to disallow said inspection, the war WILL start. There will be no avoiding it.

I have no respect for anyone calling themselves "humanitarians" that refuse to simply have their humanitarian aid inspected to ensure they aren't trying to supply "aid" to terrorists in the way of weapons and funding. If you are truly a humanitarian, you would have no problem with having that aid be inspected to ensure that aid got to the people who are in need of it. Especially in that area. With the way in which the Palestinian terrorists operate, it's really crucial any "aid" is inspected. Otherwise even more civilians could end up dead.

Thanks for the LOL of the day.....I will never get why Christians back Israel.

You realize the Jews dont believe Jesus was the Messiah right? Jews believe Jesus was a false prophet. Why would Jesus bless the aim of the Israelis?

Would would Jesus be helping someone to be a bettter killer, ever, no matter who they were, in the first place??

Sorry man, you sound like a full blown lunatic.

It will be interesting to see who blinks first and I bet it won't be Israel. Like it or not, Israel is a force to be reckoned with. Whoever pisses them off to the point of action is going to come out on the ugly end of the stick.

All 20-30 years outdated, except for something like 10 subs, that are just barely up to date to fight a US armada... and still lose.

How can you even say this with a straight face? Even when Palestinians/HAMAS/whoever had rockets, the Israelis were still stomping them into the dust, with American made choppers, missiles and drones.

I don't like some of their foreign policy.

they are dealing with this situation in a really wrong way.

they keep posturing themselves on both sides using the Palestinians as scapegoats for political gain.

It ticks me off, there are better ways to solve this problem than escalate it.

that would be interesting. Several countries escorting aid to gaza... is Isreal really gonna pick a fight with all of them? That would be a fantastic site to see and it would show Isreal that people dont like them and if you want to tango then lets tango.

Yeaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

Someone in the world is standing up against israel tyranny.

I hope war does not break out, because of people starving in Palestine. All they want is to survive.

I agree with you as well, but surely you see the hipocrasy of everyone israel bashing when since the beginning of their state they have defended against lebanon, egypt, iraq, jordan, syria and saudi arabia.... even yemen declared war on them! all this seems to be overlooked. By all means argue that their methods are wrong but understand that history shows that israelneed to stick to their guns in order to show neighbours that they are not to be trifled with.

Why do you think Iran got the balls to all of a sudden stand up for themselves?
Years of UN inspections and meddling by the Israel and the west, and Iran has pretty much taken it all (remember the patrol boat incident?), and now, over something that doesnt involve their sovereignty, they are going to fight?

Maybe Russia has given them full backing behind closed doors?
