I wonder if they decided to change to a alternate frequency?

Sounds like they got there 9600 baud rate modem going in the back ground of the static on uvb76 today. There saying they play swan lake then run the sound test but it sounds more like the 9600 baud rate modem with some morse code type sounds mixed in.

There has been a lot of speculation about the Morse heard around the Buzzer frequency.

Lots of people are getting confused thinking that just because they can hear it on the Internet feed that it is coming from UVB-76.

There are at least two very distinct Russian Military Morse nets above the Buzzer frequency of 4625 Khz. One is Russian Navy and the other much higher up is a Russian Air Defence broadcast that generates a time code every minute.

The Russian Navy net is interesting because you can follow the ships via the traffic that they send. They are using a simple International weather code for weather and sea states. This includes the latitude and longitude for positions in the Barents and White Sea. The vessels and shore stations are also using fixed Russian callsigns beginning with R.

There is nothing unusual about these Morse stations. The Russian military still uses a lot of Morse and examples of the above traffic can be heard all over the High Frequency band. Radio amateurs have been logging them for decades.

It is no use trying to link the codewords to persons or any other combination.

Note the codeword format used. Here is the last codeword sent.

UVB-76 93 882 NAIMINA 74 14 35 74

It is exactly the same format as used by other Russian Military networks in both voice and morse.

Example of Morse codeword traffic

RCV 43243 SHOLAST 5301 3473

REA4 01293 BALANVA 1958 4088

RDL 82024 75205 BROMNYJ 1346 1872

Dedicated radio enthusiasts have been monitoring these Russian Military networks for years and building up the picture. It is a tried and tested, simple and effective command and control system used by all Russian forces.

www.cvni.net...

www.cvni.net...

www.cvni.net...

These codewords have been logged for decades by radio enthusiasts.
Several ex-Soviet military personnel on Russian? radio enthusiasts websites have explained the format for receiving the command and control emergency messages.

In their sent format they mean nothing. The codeword and figures are not breakable. It is a pre-arranged codeword maintaining currency for a set period. The recipients simply refer to their flash message codebook and respond to the action for that particular received codeword. Simple and effective.

The same format messages are even seen on the Russian ELF and VLF broadcast nets as used to communicate with submerged submarines.

The Russians have used this effective system as a back-up for decades. The use of shortwave HF and in the low frequency range is simple and effective. It means that the message gets through in all modes including the basic and simple method as HF voice and Morse.

UVB was transmitting a bunch of '?' (morse ..--..) but is now transmitting a series of ---. ---. ---. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--.. ..--..

Which translates to:

ччч ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

The blog uvb-76.blogspot.com has disappeared off Google results using the search term "uvb-76".

It was listed on the first page but now does not occur within the first 9 pages that I checked.

Has someone asked Google to remove it?

Woah! This just keeps getting more interesting and juicy by the minute.

It seems as if someone hacked the # of hits this page received. Unless it has just been avalanched by more highly trafficed websites. However, I seriously doubt that based on the fact that we have gone through 9 pages of material. The probability of it naturally dropping that far down the search results is almost next to impossible.

edit: The reason I say the # of hits have been hacked and google didn't remove the page, is because the website uvb-76.blogspot.com is still showing up on the google search results (when you type in the full website name). Don't you think if google were to consciously remove this website, they would go for the whole shabang and not just remove it from the top search results?

this does get more and more interesting.

im also impressed by the amount of detective work in this thread so far.

its so odd that this has done virtually nothing since 1982 and now all of the sudden we got all sorts of weird activity.

maybe russia is scrambling defcon 5 style behind the scenes gearing up for something.

Maybe not so odd... With all this attention, well growing interest of late across the internet they may be winding up the service, or whatever it's function is, so with that you may get a flurry of activity maybe giving the agents (if indeed it's something to do with spying) the instructions needed to move to a newer system?

Or maybe they are pulling everyone's leg? Maybe once it once had a realistic function, but now it's a running joke, a relic of another period? And the level of activity is directly proportional to the internet chatter?

Just curious...
Can Anyone in this thread able to receive this signal directly?

I have an outstanding 160M loop antenna (570ft long) up about 75 ft. along with excellent receivers. (Kenwood TS-2000 & 520, Icom pro III
and many others. Here in the Midwest USA I can rarely/barely hear it.

Anybody else?

Yeah! The station retransmits! I am here at 7:00 UTC to see if you are doing the maintenance that was being played between 7:00 and 7:50.
It is clear that the purpose of UVB-76 this season remains a mystery and I think for a long time.

P.D. Excuse my bad English

I was unable to hear the buzz today. I do not know if it's because they have returned to disconnect or a problem page in which I hear "www.globaltuners.com/receivers/" . The truth is that yesterday I was excited with the return of buzz and possible numerical messages.
Does anyone have a shortwave radio to confirm the current status of UVB-76 season?

Thanks in advance
