as in having shows for gossip of the actors/actresses/radio/what ever people?

do they shove this in your face in other countries?

I love my girlfriend, but if I asked her to point out where the Gaza Strip and Oil spill were on a map she wouldn't stand a chance. But if I asked her what was on MTV next Tuesday at 10pm she would know. Its tough for people to know what they should actually care about when things like sports, celebs and other non-sense that doesn't really matter is shoved down their faces at an alarming rate.

I agree, it is saddening. Keep the population dumb downed seems to be working.

I am thankful for sites like ATS and a few other ones I routinely visit, otherwise I am sure I would also be very blind. I try spreading the word as often as possible, not very many people seem to care though. Hence why I go on a forum to discuss things.

this type of news is called "dumbing down"



We have to seek out and decipher what is really newsworthy for ourselves.

The mindless masses consume this banal "news" and either do not have the ability to delve further, or they are just happy to eat McDonalds sit on the sofa and be brainwashed by the media.

Yup its in every country. But i dont think as much as Hollywood in US. If britney farted it'll be a news. If lindsay puked it'll be a news. Its just these press parasites are feeding on us by keeping those celebs in lime light always. Ih ope a day comes when actors are seen as just actors. They are not larger than life. They are not important than the troops dying in all countries due to the political bastards for keeping the common people safe. They are not greater than the firemen who risk their lives and put their lives in danger for the people who they dont know. They are not greater than mother theresa. they are just like overpriced stocks now. Bring them down. Dont buy a sh*t about them.

I love my girlfriend also, and strive to educate her on hidden history, world events and what is going on behind the scenes. Yes, she watches TV shows, but refuses to be dumbed down by celebrity worship. She too comes to ATS for her news of the day, and often comments that what she reads here will never be reported on CNN/MSNBC/FOX. right now she is pretty pissed at BP for not doing enough to clean their mess up, and compensate all those fishermen who are out of business over this fiasco. Some of us just refuse to swallow the drivel shoved at us by TV and radio.
