And Israel exercises that right by executing innocent multi-nationals in international waters to prolong their concentration camp state oppressing the Palestinians right? Oh poor poor Israel, always the victim.

Lets hope these fools on the ship listen to the miltary this time and dont start using violence against the troops carrying out an inspection of the ships cargo for weapons for use by terror groups.

I guess you're the sort who enjoys watching a fellow American get executed by the 21st century nazis. Enjoy a life of racist delusion.

Aren't you pretty much enjoying the life of racist delusion yourself? You're not so different from the guy you just attacked.

P.S. Who cares whethers it's an American, Turk, Palestian or whatever get executed? Why is there a difference? Are you stating that a person from your own country has more value than that of another?

Apparently an agreement was reached, the crew of the Rachel Corrie agreed to divert to to Ashdod on the conditions that the cargo would be inspected by UN officials in Ashdod and would be escorted in its entirety to Gaza, with two MV Rachel Corrie crewman, Irish and UN officials. Hopefully the IDF will live up to their end of the bargain.

You got to understand how these Americans think... they're not too bright (especially one arguing that position) so you got phrase it in a context that appeals to the fundamental nature of Americans so they'll be able to sympathize and have difficulties falling into the standard xenophobic traps they usually do. I'm as disgusted by any man getting zapped by unjustly, but to most Americans it's just another brown "terrorist" unless you make them think about it. And yes I say this as an American, so let's not get our nipples in a twist.

How exactly does one retaliate (lawfully, naturally
) against every single Israeli citizen?

And why would you do that, considering the fact that there are a huge number of Israelis who are as disgusted as you clearly are with what happened on that boat a few days ago?

You folks are so bleeding reactionary.

Israel was within its rights to board a ship (yes, even in international waters) that was trying to run its blockade on Hamas. And I will not fault the commandos who boarded the ship for using force to defend themselves and their wounded comrades.

If the 'peace activists' on THAT boat had behaved the way it appears the folks aboard the Rachael Corrie have, 9 of them would be alive right now, safely home in their own countries.

There are two sides to every story. It never ceases to amaze me that so many people on ATS, with its high-minded slogan of 'Deny Ignorance' will happily swallow whatever piece of propaganda the pro-Hamas camp wishes to feed them.

Now, please, accuse me of being a paid shill posting on behalf of Israel. I assure you that I'm not, but if they felt the need to throw a few bucks my why I wouldn't be against it.

Thats very true, every nation has that right. NO nation has the right to insist that another nations children starve though. Thats what the blockade does. And it stops alot more food and medical aid comming in, than it ever does bombs and rockets.
Besides, Israel dont need to stop Hamas getting bombs and rockets in any case! Israel has anti projectile defense systems that can take any thing from a bullet to an ICBM out of the sky without breaking a sweat. They only allow the home made weapons of Hamas to land, and kill, when Israel needs an excuse to go build another settlement on contested land, or destroy a palestinian school and burn its attendees with white phosphor.

To be quite honest...

you're no different to what you're opposed to. And that's not to attack you but something I hope you'll think about and try to learn from. While I love to fight the good fight... there is a time and a place.

Use this forum to inform yourself, and not be brainwashed. Exchange ideas and thoughts with people from different sides of the coin and also parts of the world. And based on that... try and improve your knowledge and hopefully vision of the world which could only help improve your own life and that of others.

I hope you will consider this.

Well, I haven't murdered any civilians yet but I thank you for your opinion, and I encourage you to continue to support the 21st century Nazis.

Its perhaps the most unfortunate outcome of war that civilians die. It has happened during more or less every single war that had ever taken place, ever.

Israel doesn't target civilians. Get over the propaganda, and ask yourself - what, exactly, would that prove? To what ends would Israel be deliberately killing civilians?

It also doesn't help the civilians of Gaza much that their elected leaders, Hamas, choose to launch attacks snugly from behind human shields.

Why do you hold Israel to a higher standard than any other nation?

I read this either here or somewhere else on the net last night, and I thought it perfectly summed up the situation.

"If Hamas laid down their weapons, there would be no more killing. If Israel laid down their weapons, they would cease to exist."

I couldn't agree more. Rachael was a brave girl who tragically died during a PEACEFUL show of defiance during the prime of her life.

I hope that all of the aid that sailed aboard the vessel in her name reaches the people of Gaza.

Welcome to the "ATS Microcosm"

Whether you are pro Israel or Pro Gaza no one here will convince the other side that you are right ... especially when it comes to arguing the past.

This is the same problem the actual countries have. Some one has to stop. And then someone else has to ....

Anyway, peace. Out.

I agree with you... But, while you feel you can't defend the commando's, I feel I do.

As the situation was, the IDF boarded the ship, and this is something that happens around the world on a daily basis. Ships do get boared in international waters by the navy, to check cargo ect. So, why is it suddenly "piracy" when Israel does it? Or do you guys only read the news when it suits your agenda?

The IDF did not expect to be attacked when it boarded the ship, as I am le to believe anyway. Being attacked by a mob, while commando's went down 1 by 1 which pretty much made them an easy target, was a complete and utter suprise to the IDF.

When you go into a situation where you expect people to stand well clear and let you do your "job", it will be hard for any person to react in a cool and collected fashion when placed within situation not expecting it. When you see a fellow teammate being attacked and also thrown of a boat the first thing a person will do is follow instinct. I would only imagine myself in such a position where I think I would have pretty much shot at anything that formed a threat to myself and my team.

But this is just based on what I've seen on the news. And I am saddened about this situation and the death of 9 people.

But then there is the other side of the coin.. where people with hatred filled towards Israel because of the treatment of the Palestian people.

They are going towards Gaza to help these people, at least I hope they had this intention! And are stopped by a blockade which will give a feeling of injustice, and thus also more rage builds up. But then these people blocking you from helping the people that need it, they dare board your ship!

The question now is, with all this hatred and anger built up... how do you control yourself? Because most people at home watching or reading the news always wonder how they would react when seeing injustices done. Most people will also see themselves standing up to these people, am I wrong?

So, it's easy to see how these people started attacking the IDF, because here they finally were... and now they've done to you what they've been doing to the people you're trying to help! Although let's hope that the people that attacked the IDF weren't already set out to do so before they even boarded the boat(which really, is a possibility).

Two sides of a coin, although there are always other ways of seeing it and explaining what and why it happened.

It sounds like it's pretty much over and, thankfully, had a peaceful ending.

From the article:

"At about 5:50 am on Saturday, the first reports came in over Twitter that the 'Rachel Corrie' had been boarded close to Gaza. Earlier the activists reported that their radar had been jammed, however their Twitter accounts continued to operate.

The activists reported that three boats were following them for about twenty minutes and then that they had been boarded.

The passengers are said to be under arrest."

Here's the link:

www.jpost.com...

I realize there's still the matter of people being under arrest, but I imagine they'll be released soon enough, and they'll be able to return to the vessel shortly. I found another article in which it turns out the Obama administration had contacted Free Gaza and encouraged them to accept Ashdod. If I can remember where I found that, I'll post the link to that too.
