You have my condolences! To all those who lives where touched By John, and all of his work in life!
If I may offer some of my own personal experience with the loss of close friends, lovers, and family members.

John is not gone, and that is important to understand, yet hard to grasp to those who have not gone through extensive loss in life.
John's work, his ideas, and all he left this world remains! And this man left us with a lot! I feel this so strongly right now. As a large part of me is very sad that John, "William One Sac" is gone from us in a physical sense.
Our minds and Bodies are so linked to the physical realm! The physical bodies that do all our work here is hard to let go of at first..
I know this is going to take me some time to really sink in.

John fought the good fight! And there is still so much I want to say, yet my mind is swimming.. And this is still very fresh for many of you..

So I will bow my head in silence, say to myself... "William One Sac, we are still with you!"

My blessings to family and friends!

===If need be, and you need a total stranger to talk too, please feel free to U2 me. The loss of close friends, and family, I have been there, and I would be here for you too.

Edit-- I was only offline for 6 days.. I am still in shock here...
And I come back to this, I was not expecting this!!!

This is ATS first BIG loss is it not?
Or have we lost others in the past years?

Very sad news, clearly he's made a deep impact on many peoples lives that most still around will never achieve though. I never knew him very well but was always aware of how respected and loved he was. RIP William One Sac.

I only knew William One Sac from ATS. I've known him as a contributor to this board since I've been here.
Upon hearing of his death, I went through all my posts and threads. I knew he was a big part of the board and, he and I had interacted more than once.
I've been on ATS for 7 years. When I got here, it was the wild, wild west. William One Sac has always been there.
Scanning through a thread, seeing his name.., you always read it. He was an authority on many subjects, even if he was new to something, his logic was always solid. He had the ability to diffuse an argument without belittling either party. All the while embodying the ATS motto; Deny Ignorance.

By any name, he was always a font of knowledge and reason.

The real world suffered a great loss with the passing of John Crawford.
ATS suffered a great loss with the passing of William One Sac.

Each Small Candle Lyrics by Roger Waters :

Not the torturer will scare me
Nor the body's final fall
Nor the barrels of death's rifles
Nor the shadows on the wall
Nor the night when to the ground
The last dim star of pain, is hurled
But the blind indifference
Of a merciless, unfeeling world

Lying in the burnt out shell
Of some Albanian farm
An old Babushka
Holds a crying baby in her arms
A soldier from the other side
A man of heart and pride
Breaks ranks, lays down his rifle
To kneel by her side

He gives her water
Binds her wounds
And calms the crying child
A touch gives absolution then
Across the great divide
He picks his way back through the broken
China of her life
And there at the curb
The samaritan Serb turns and waves ... goodbye

And each small candle
Lights a corner of the dark
Each small candle
Lights a corner of the dark
Each small candle lights a corner of the dark
When the wheel of pain stops turning
And the branding iron stops burning
When the children can be children
When the desperados weaken
When the tide rolls into greet them
And the natural law of science
Greets the humble and the mighty
And the billion candles burning
Lights the dark side of every human mind

Each small candle
Each small candle (repeated)
Each small candles lights the dark side of every human mind

And each small candle
Lights a corner of the dark

Rest In Peace and Light John

I never had the chance to talk to William One Sac personally, and what I know about him I know just second hand.

But watching his picture, watching him smile, I feel that this man got aware of something, that is of utterly importance for us who remain:

As Springer quoted: "Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but about how to dance in the rain."

Maybe this is the most important thing we can ever learn.

From the deepest of my heart I hope it's true, what JacKatMtn wrote:

William One Sac, I wish I had met you, but the wisdom and heartiness in your words that are conserved on ATS (and for sure are even more conserved in the hearts of those who've known you personally) and your smile will last, and they will be a guide for us when we are in danger to get lost in the fog of life.

Dear Mr. Crawford, god bless your journey to the stars, and may eternal peace and joy be with you!

John, you were dear, and kind and thoughtful. A greater man than most of us can ever wish to be.

I will especially miss you in the Crypto forum.

The pain is now gone. You can rest.

We'll have another chat in the great big crypto forum up in the sky.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Crawford. Condolences to all his family and many friends.

SkepticOverlord

We, the owners of The Above Network, LLC will honor the memory of this singular man form now on. We are working diligently to get a new, non profit foundation established in his honor and will make announcement when that work is done.

On that note: what about bringing back the monthly Way Above Top Secret Award (or something similar) and renaming it in honor of W.O.S.?
