So is the Obama admin attacking this law because they are unable to attack 1070? Or going after it because more and more states are proposing or passing their own law punishing employers for hiring illegal immigrants?

"The bills, with more expected, target a number of constituency concerns, including the rising costs of education and medical care for illegal aliens, exploding crime, punishment for employers who exploit illegal aliens and the federal government's inability to secure the U.S. border.

This particular inniative in Arizona passed in 2004

"Proposition 200, an Arizona state initiative passed in November 2004 with 56% of the vote, requires individuals to produce proof of citizenship before they may register to vote or apply for public benefits in Arizona. The proposition also makes it a misdemeanor for public officials to fail to report persons unable to produce documentation of citizenship who apply for these benefits, and allows citizens who believe that public officials have given undocumented persons benefits to sue for remedies."

Also did you know Cali has had some of it's own immigration policies in the past? Here's a history of their own battle with prop 187 which was later killed by the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in July of 99.

I wonder if the Democrats are really that stupid or if they have ulterior motives.

They are VERY unpopular as it is right now, and when they keep doing ignorant # like this, it only guarantees their decimation come election time...

Ive said this again and again. The Federal Govt is too big and too far detached to concern itself with matters of state law. THats why the state has its own governing body and its own judicial system.

The top law enforcement official, Atty General eric holder was given his asshat by a congressional board when he admitted he hadnt actually read the bill before publicly saying that he thought it was unconstitutional. He had based his opinion on what he had read in newspapers and what he heard other peoples opinions were.

The Obama administration apparently worries letting that law stand would leave in place a precedent that states have a legitimate role in enforcing immigration laws – a notion the administration fiercely opposes.

perhaps the best and most truthful part of that article.

Change in deed.

Obama, claiming to be a Constitutional Law scholar is nothing of the sort!
This country is comprised of 50 independent Republics, called states, who GRANT the Federal Government the authority to govern. That power is derived from the people of those 50 republics. The Constitution outlines EXACTLY what teh federal government is allowed to govern. If it is not in the Constitution, it does not have the authority, the state does. In the case where the federal government abrogates the authorties granted it by the states, the states then have the right to enact and enforce laws for the benefit of the individual republic, provided that they do not contravene federal law. In no case has any state contravened a federal law. In fact, the states are enforcing federal law as the federal government has thus far refused to do so. This is keeping with the original intent and spirit that this government was built upon.

I submit that we throw each and every politician out on their ass in November if they continue to fail at their sworn duties. I further submit that any politician found to be working AGAINST established laws be tried for treason or sedition, whichever proves to be most applicable in each instance! That means you to, Obama - this is not a dictatorship and you are NOT king!
You do not get to pick and choose which laws you will enforce and which ones you will ignore!

I don't see where the Federal government have an argument on this one, the laws that are been enforced are existing laws, job requirement are the same in every state, you have to have a SS, visa or work permit to work, so what is the problem here?
