Labor Productivity And Costs: Blech

beforeitsnews.com

Unit labor costs in nonfarm businesses fell 1.3 percent in the first quarter of 2010, as the 2.8 percent increase in productivity outpaced a 1.5 percent gain in hourly compensation. Unit labor costs fell 4.2 percent over the last four quarters, as the 6.1 percent increase in output per hour over that period outpaced a 1.6 percent rise in hourly compensation.

That's trouble.

Why?

Because it's more of what I've noted before - work harder, get paid less

What the source article of the source article is saying hear is people are working longer hours, producing more, and getting paid less. Or to put it in laymen s terms, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. The article goes on to say that in the long term it will be bad for the business because there workers who also serve as a consumer will be spending less money, which is bad for the economy.

It's funny, i went on a job interview today and the job involved joining a union. The funny thing is the job pay was only 8.25 an hour! lol. On top of this were the typical union dues and everything else associated with this.
