I watched the clip and I don't think it's entirely accurate to say that he "compared gays to Al-Qaeda". There's enough reasons to identify O'Reilly as a nitwit without resorting to a stretch like that.

how does sexual orientation equate to wanting to be a terrorist?

They say that the most strongly homophobic people most likely have gay tendencies themselves...and lash out at other "Gays" because of their own insecurities about their feelings.

O'Reilly is just another homophobe who caters to an audience who is the same way.

I've noticed that what we hate about others is what we hate most about ourselves.

Case in point homosexual republicans in office.
Most of them, before being outed, are especially anti gay.
Then guess what they've been banging a male intern.

I will agree with you there that there are those that are anti gay just to be with the in crowd or their circle of friends.

But like in my previous comment. Usually the most vehement objectors usually don't practice what they themselves preach.
