I am NOT a republican first off.
I endorse neither party.
True, I am no benefit to my employer while I am not there.
The thing is that when they hired me they got skills that the other 119 applicants couldn't offer.
I am a SAE certified automotive technician which they need to keep the fleet of vehicles running.
I am a certified welder, arborist, Pool & hot tub technician, Pesticide applicator, and a state certified play-ground safety inspector (as silly as
that sounds, its a requirement in a city park here) & electrician.
I have a Class A CDL and experience in doubles, triples, tankers and have a haz-mat endorsement.
I can and have run about every type of heavy equipment excluding large cranes.
My job entails many different types of work and you have to be very good at them all including construction, framing, roofing, plumbing, electrical
work, tree trimming, turf care, irrigation & painting.
I also prep all the ball fields for the different baseball & softball leagues so you have to know the difference between them all. Do they use 60'
bases, 65',70'. 90'??
Which pitchers mound? 35', 40', 50', 55', or 60'6" for Baseball??
Does that league use a pitchers plate or a mound?
Then there is soccer, flag football, volleyball, tennis, Frisbee golf, marathons and bike races to set up for.
Not many people know how to do all that. It's hard to get all that knowledge in one person..... so I got the job.
They needed me more than I needed them because at the time I already had a job where I made twice the money.
Why in the world would anybody quit a higher paying job to work for less money???? That's right! BENEFITS
Benefits are a way of luring highly qualified people to your company
Now I make less money but I get paid vacations, paid sick days & retirement.
I guess thats wrong too huh? retirement?
Why should anyone pay you when you dont work there any longer.
Because I paid into it for 20 years+
I look at it as they are paying for my loyalty for spending 20 years there
and providing the skills, blood & sweat for those 20 years.
I am most likely older than you AND have been EXACTLY where you are
(job wise) except the child support thing as I took my kids after the divorce and raised them....... She paid me support. (or was supposed to)
She owes me $85,000 in back support but that's another story.
I came across harder than I meant to in the last post, I guess I was having a crappy day. Sorry about that, not your fault.
I am doing fairly well in my life now but in the past it wasn't always so.
I KNOW what it's like to be homeless and live in an alley, stealing food to survive
I know what it's like to be addicted to drugs and lose everything you have.
What you are or WHERE you are now don't matter. Just where you go in the future.
