Shape-shifting islands defy sea-level rise

AGAINST all the odds, a number of shape-shifting islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean are standing up to the effects of climate change.

For years, people have warned that the smallest nations on the planet - island states that barely rise out of the ocean - face being wiped off the map by rising sea levels. Now the first analysis of the data broadly suggests the opposite: most have remained stable over the last 60 years, while some have even grown.

So this just proves that somethings alright on Earth. It could also prove that global warming isn't real, and that the Earth is changing on its own. All those fears of islands going under and people having to relocate are, evidently, unfounded. Eat it Al.

Yeah if the ice caps were melting (as they claim), than the sea levels would rise even if microscopically.

This means that these islands should be "sinking".

According to this report, the islands are not sinking. It even states some of them are growing.

Well, I suppose the ice cap melt theory is off by a bit.

That's what I'm thinking. It says that sea-levels have risen 120 mm (1.2cm) but the islands have been able to get larger in some cases.

Are the islands being exposed due to sea levels dropping? Or..
Are they rising up out of the water?
