The Great Illusion

Grandfather was a funny gentleman: A Polish immigrant after the American Dream of self-sufficiency. Whenever talks of politics would come up he would place his hand over his pocket book, peek out the windows, and take a head count. He would then wink and whisper to the young ones that the magicians were not smart enough to pick his pocket, steal his land, or sacrifice his family as pawns. Grown-ups thought he was a joker or just daft in the head while his grandchildren thought he was goofy. Every story has many versions based on what people believe. Unfortunately, in his silly way, my grandfather was not wrong.

My grandfather believed, it was the stock market crash creating an economic depression that allowed the pickpockets to form the ABC government resulting in a loss of independence and a world war to get more women into the workforce for the pickpockets to rob from while creating the illusion of independence. He believed that these moves were cleverly planned out and were not that different from the ideals of the socialist and communist governments we were fighting against. Self-sufficiency was the American Dream but it has turned into something ugly. We gave it all up, self-sufficiency and independence, for our dependency on government and corporations. Like it or not, we have become the dollar slaves.

My father, we thought to be even crazier than my grandfather, would get on his soapbox about self-sufficiency. He warned us of the evils of politicians, credit, insurance, and corporations. This was back in the 1970 - 1980’s when the US was at its height and the cushy jobs were in one of the four categories. I remember the reaction of my father when I received an unsolicited credit card offer in the mail.

Being self-sufficient was promoted as having to struggle too hard. Credit is easy and turns your head away from independence. My generation gave in and now must pay the price for dependency.

What do we have today? Our independence has been robbed while we pay for the privilege of having an illusion of independence. Money is power and today, money is the means for independence while credit is the illusion of independence. With everything else happening on the big stage of politics, we are not paying attention to the tricks of the magicians. The “Too Big to Fail” financial institutes own our beliefs; the stock market owns our paychecks; and the government owns us.

Those two lunatics were right after all. We allowed ourselves to become owned and willingly sacrificed our freedoms for the luxuries. We lived like royalty for a spell with our big homes, college degrees, and fancy cars but we gave up our independence. We agreed to the policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell” as long as we did not have to give up our luxuries.

Now that we are at the verge of change [a revolutionary new way of life] our attention is being misdirected. The government, recognizing the folly of education, has been slowly “dumbing down” future generations. Why don’t our children want to go to work? Why don’t they want to go to college? Why don’t they listen to us anymore?

We control our government by the proof of our actions. How does one man control millions? He doesn’t! We allow one man to dictate. The start of this nation’s independence was tea being dumped into a Boston harbor. We now have oil being dumped into the Gulf. Different circumstances but we can make the result the same. Our government has grown distant from its people. It is time to take charge and there is far more power in numbers than there is in money. People always forget that when they are being mesmerized by an illusion.

Self-sufficiency is hard work. The question is, are we willing to give up dependency in order to be independent? I have little faith in the dependent portions of our society because they are controllable. What of the rest of us? Are we to give up our independence for a few luxuries that will eventually be taken from us? What we do now, our children will inherit.

Do not think for a minute that I am advocating violence. I am advocating using our intelligence. Use your power as a thinker to see through all these illusions before it is too late and your life, as well as mine, has expired and our future generations that lack education will be up next. We need to make changes now before it is too late.

Isn’t it funny how history repeats because people refuse to recognize the real mistakes? My favorite quote is the definition of insanity...doing the same thing and thinking you will get different results. Maybe this time it isn't insane but just a government thing.

It is the masses that make things happen whether they buy into being controlled or not. Actions speak so clearly. And yes, for those who do noit want to recognize what I have to say, I come form a long line of lunatics dating back to a relative supporting the overthrow of Hitler, a relative supporting the overthrow of Russian's version of Hitler, and a relative supporting the over throw of England's version of Hitler. We now have our own version of Hitler, the unfortunate thing is that we cannot yet identify him or her, but we will. Follow the new Arizona immigration law for clues. Follow the lack of clean up in the gulf for clues. Follow the health laws for clues. It's all slight of hand with a big show to disguise the real magic trick.

It is so sad that we applaud being duped, isn't it? But on the other hand, what a show, right?

I like your post. It is pretty informative on what we are facing in our current world today. It also has a pleasant, nostalgic feel to it. It also shows just how thin the line is that actually separates sanity from insanity.

Nice thread and I agree with you for the most part. All of these things are happening because we let them. The "elites" have power because of their money but ultimately, that money is only as powerful as we perceive it to be. For instance, Bush W. or even Obama for that matter, could make all of the oppressive laws that they wish but it takes the people to enforce those laws and make them relevant.

The problem that I see with our society is that each individual thinks that there is nothing they can do to change our current situation and to a certain extent, they are right. However, if the people can unite, then there is nothing that can stop us. If the people could unite, then all of the money in the world wouldn't matter. The mightiest armies in the world wouldn't matter.

This is why I think the 1st and 2nd Amendments are so extremely important for true freedom, yet we have all but given up on both of them. The 1st Amendment is important because it gives us the opportunity to coordinate and unite. The 2nd Amendment is important to ensure that we are able to keep the 1st Amendment. Without the 1st Amendment, the 2nd Amendment doesn't matter and is in effect, useless. Without the 2nd Amendment, the first Amendment is also useless because we have no way to keep the 1st Amendment, nor enforce the outcome of it.

We have given up the 1st Amendment because we are no longer able to assemble, at least without getting the governments permission before doing so. We also no longer have a free press. The corporate media has basically taken that from us. So, in effect, we need to get the government's permission before assembling against that very government.

We have also given up the 2nd Amendment because our weapons do not match those of the government. Therefore the 2nd Amendment no longer matters. We no longer have the last resort of beating back tyranny through the right to bear arms.

Those two amendments may be gone but that does not mean that all hope is lost. Those liberties set out in front of us in the Bill of Rights were only meant to make beating tyranny easier. We still have ourselves.

You see, the government needs us. They need us to place a value on their money. They need us to man their prisons. They also need us to enforce their own tyranny against us. Without the people, their tyranny no longer matters or even exists.

They are only rich because we perceive their paper and computer digits to hold value. They are only in power because we perceive their orders, laws and mandates to hold value. Without us, all of that is meaningless.

Well, you may ask, how do we change this? Through education. You may then ask, if we no longer have the 1st Amendment or the right to assemble and speak, then how do we educate? That is the problem that we face. How do we educate and coordinate without a means of doing so? That is the golden question and that is where the ultimate power lies.

That is the problem, history repeats. Although some or many agree with what I have to say, none are wiling to give up dependency for independence.

Funny, this tool of control allowed industry to happen. We got what we got and now want more. Now look at where we are! Demanding that our controllers give us more... or we will do what?

That is so funny it is almost sad. I was once in the position to tell people "either shut up and do your job or find a different employer" and then it came down to my head on the chopping block because I refused to follow the no-win corporate policies. Damned if I did and damned if I didn't but at least I do not have nightmares haunting my decisions.

My position is prejudiced because I do not have a job, do not collect welfare or unemployment, do not have insurance, and I do not have credit. I pencil in my votes for congress and presidents. I have no fears of using my own identity on the internet. What is the worst thing that can possibly happen to me to get me to stop airing my opinions and disclosing what I am told by others?

Funny, our peacekeepers want me to provide them with a scapegoat in order to shut us down. No names.. it's all me and I allow my opinions to be borrwoed out by the very persons who give me valuable information. It is an even exchange, well sort of anyway. People on this site see my opinions before they air in public elsewhere.

It is a trajic comedy that I am given so much information and can do nothing worthy with it. That alone is the biggest consipracy of our generation: Hands tied to a chair and forced to watch events unfold. What are you going to do.. No! What CAN you do?

There in does lie the problem in need of focus. Who cares what the magician produces with the right hand when the left hand is up to no good? It is the people who do not know their numbers that hold the world in their hands. Those hands are the very same hands that have restuctured governments for centuries without their knowledge. But what are we going to do with the knowledge? The conspiracy is that we do nothing knowing that we are doing nothing and we will be led by our guilt.
