Hi everybody:
I'd like to dedicate this thread to the didgeridoo - an Australian wind-instrument.
Anything from good tracks, to clips, to lessons, tips, history, trance and manufacturing advice is welcome.
I first heard live didgeridoo playing over 15 years ago. It touched something deep within me. Since then I've collected three instruments, which I
don't play every day, but still frequently. They are not the real instruments from northern Australia (a termite eaten stem or tree-branch), but
hollow bamboo, but they nevertheless all give a good sound.
The simplest way of making a didge is to take a black plumbing pipe from a hardware store (about as long as your leg), and to to add a wax
mouth-piece.
The sound is made by the vibration of your lips, and it's not easy at first.
Then comes the art of keeping it going, or "circular breathing", and even a short period of playing can lead to a happy "high" due to altered
breathing.
And I mean it really works - totally naturally!
Anyway, I've been getting a bit stuck on my rythmns and noises, although I can finally do the circular breathing. Any tips?
