Navy prepares to confront more ships

The Obama administration has stressed to Jerusalem the need to prevent a recurrence of the deadly Israeli commandeering of a ship bound for Gaza, as other boats make their way to the area.

“What’s most important to the president is that events like the one that transpired a couple nights ago don’t transpire again,” White House spokesman Bill Burton said Wednesday. “So we are talking to our partners and are hopeful that we won’t see a repeat.”

More pro-Palestinian boats are headed for Gaza, and the Israeli navy would be hard-pressed to confront them with their current ROE.

I wonder what are they going to do next to prevent the illegal running of their blockade.

Remember, the Israelis imposed the blockade on the Gaza Strip to stem the flow of weapons and material to Hamas.

What he means is next time don’t get caught. The problem for the white house is not that it happened but that it was seen to happen.

Chances are they will allowed to be searched first as the first 5 boats did. The people that want to help Gaza can help Gaza. The very fact that all the other boats in the first flotilla got through without incidence should be looked upon as the rule rather than the exception.

I think the president is speaking to the people on the boat rather than talking to the Israelis here.

If people really want cooler heads to prevail this is what needs to happen.
