“They came for war,” was how one Israel Navy commando described the activists aboard the Mavi Marmara Turkish passenger ship, where clashes erupted early Monday morning and ended with a reported 10 activists dead and dozens of others, including eight IDF soldiers, wounded.

A top Navy officer said that in the future, the Navy will be more aggressive and treat such ships like they were coming for “war.”

After several hours of radio communications and warnings that the Mavi Marmara would be boarded if the captain did not change course, OC Navy V.-Adm. Eliezer “Chiney” Marom – who had set up a command post on the INS Victory – gave the order to Flotilla 13 naval commandos at 4 a.m. on Monday to board the ship.

The three Israel Air Force Blackhawk helicopters hovering nearby made their approach above the Mavi Marmara’s upper deck. Sitting on board, the naval commandos could just make out the few dozen activists gathered below. Carrying non-lethal weapons as well as pistols, the last thing the soldiers thought they would walk into was a well-planned lynch.

In a search of the ship the Navy discovered – in addition to the bats, metal pipes and knives – Molotov cocktails that had been prepared in advance by the so called “activists.”

This has me thinking that Israel wants another war. I bet the next ship they board they will do it fully armed.

If they have a naval blockade and the Captian chooses to attempt to cross it, any blood spilled is on his hands.

Typical naval proceedure is to contact over the radio, if that fails shoot flares. Attempt radio contact again.

Challenge the ship with a shot fired accross the bow. If they do not change course and reduce speed the Navy would have a green light to board or open fire on it if need be.

Yup, they were on their way to start a war with cement as their weapon.

Israel is a terrorist state.

Well I would have to agree with that point. The US fits that same model.

I think we have all forgot how to fight a war. You kill any and all resistance.

But we should not rush into war either. Once all diplomatic soultions have failed and the threat is great war shall be waged.

Turkey has already pledged military support for the next aid ship. This is looking like one hell of a game of chicken. Each one is too proud to stand down. This seriously could get real ugly, real fast.

When you look at this from an unbiased perspective this makes sense. From the commanders point of view, you are not going to lead your soldiers into a situation which they are not prepared for. You are responsible for your soldiers lives and they put their trust in you. If you know that the ships your soldiers are going to board have people who are going to act in a hostile manner, then it is your responsibility to prepare accordingly.
