Didn't you hear the whole story? Israel l had a blockade to inspect all ships that were sending aid and things to Hamas. All they asked was to inspect the ships. They have been hit by over 6500 rockets in the past few years from the Palestinians. The people in the boats said they would not comply with Israel's request, so Israel boarded the boats and were attacked! Israel is a nation and has a right to defend themselves.

The OP was correct:
The United States has blocked demands at the UN security council for an international inquiry into Israel's assault on the Turkish ship carrying aid to Gaza that left nine pro-Palestinian activists dead.
A compromise statement instead calls for an impartial investigation which Washington indicated could be carried out by Israel.

Israel was within it's rights per international law.
According to the San Remo Manual that governs international humanitarian law, it is permissible under rule 67(a) to attack neutral vessels on the high seas when the vessels “are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they ... intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or ...intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture.”
San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea 1994
Prepared by International Lawyers and Naval Experts. Convened by the International Institute of Humanitarian Law. Adopted in June 1994.

And even according to Oslo.
Gaza-Jerico of 1994, Agreement annex 1, Sec 1.b paragraph 4
As part of Israel's responsibilities for safety and security within the three Maritime Activity Zones, Israel Navy vessels may sail throughout these zones, as necessary and without limitations, and may take any measures necessary against vessels ...suspected of being used for terrorist activities or for smuggling arms, ammunition, drugs, goods, or for any other illegal activity. The Palestinian Police will be notified of such actions, and the ensuing procedures will be coordinated through the Maritime Coordination and Cooperation Center.

So, there you have it. One by international law, the other per Israel and PA agreement. Israel was and is within it's right.

Those of you who believe that Israel somehow acted incorrectly, have you actually seen the videos of the raid. Here check it out, you can clearly see the soldiers being attacked with pipes and other weapons as they borded the ship. What were they supposed to do, let they fellow soldiers get mamed or killed? What would you do if you were doing your job and a group of people started to beat the crap out of you?

I think the US probably gave the green light and both didn't expect the outcome. I think the Israeli want to escort the flotilla by force to port in Israel, something may have gone wrong.
If they had issued an apology the world wouldn't be so angry right now.
I think it's the little dog controlling the big one. The little dog managed to steal and control all of the big dog's assets so he has no choice but be nice or starve.
