I do hope you're right. Although I have never know of the Turks ever deploying military without meaning it!.

Lets hope an influence NATO has at the moment, can restrain them. and give the UN time to come down firmly in Israel for once.

But the question is. Is anyone listening?????

sob story?... I see.... so the murder of Israeli civilians is ok by you but not when it is Palestinians?...

Obviously most of you are very biased against Israel and it's people.. Why would they not allow building materials to go in?...maybe because Palestinian terrorists use civilian buildings to hide in, and to shoot rockets from to hit Israel...

Again, notice how biased you are when I have called again for both nations to be able to live peacefully side by side...but nooo, you Palestinian apologists HATE Israel and it's people... You can't separate Israel and it's people, they are one and the same. If you advocate the destruction of Israel, you are advocating the destruction of Israelis, and that seems what you all Palestinian apologists keep demanding....

You assume that I think it is okay when ANY family is murdered. But we aren't talking about a family in a checkpoint mixup here... we are talking about an entire population of people.

Don't put words in my mouth.

Emotive plea... your entire argument should be stricken from the record.

Poisoning the well. ditto

I wouldn't say that. More that the isreali government be held truly and finally accountable for it's actions.

Just as the Palestinian groups should also be.

The point here is that a Neutral and allied vessel and INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN crew was attacked and people killed. plain and simple.

Please tell me how this could EVER be justified

Well done Turkey!

Israel won't dare try to assault you as your allies are their enemies.

I want to see Israel back down..

Gaza has a RIGHT to sea trade as it isn't part of the Israeli land.

"If there is a war to break out between Turkey and Israel, NATO will be required to assist Turkey in the war. Wouldn't that just be hilarious!?"

Not true.

Turkey would be the aggressor.

The US would never back Turkey in a fight vs Israel. To suggest that the NATO charter "necessitates" this is nonsense; similar to suggesting pieces of the US Constitution prohibit the government from doing certain things. Besides, the electoral votes in NY and FL are too important.

Similarly, the Turkish backed (funded?) flotilla was a deliberately provocative act. All they had to do was dock in the port of Ashdod, have their goods inspected for weapons and off it goes to Gaza. Off course sending in the Hamas PR squad to provoke the Israelis is a great way to raise political capital.

Additionally, this is the 2nd maritime incident in a geopolitical hot zone within a month. Does not bode well.

My parents go on holiday to Marmaris in a week as well.
I hope it kicks off when they return or before they go.

This summer looks to be one of war...

Israel,Turkey,Lebanon,Iran,N Korea,USA,EU,China,Russia.

It's getting tense.. i wonder what the catalyst will be....

No, Israel attacked a Turkish boat in international waters. This is a warcrime. The NATO alliance, per treaty signator, would be required to assist if requested to do so.

No, the US wouldn't comply, but then that would be illegal. Wouldn't stop us though.

This is my first attempt on ATS. Excuse my french... I was on the Champs Elysées in Paris today, participating in the demonstration in front of the israelian embassy. We never reached the embassy because we were made to breathe an awfull lot of police gaz. There were more police than demontrators. Some heavy fighting took place.
I'm sorry if this post looks like one of a beginner. Please give me hints to report better.
I just got home. I reckon it will never be the same again when it comes to dealing with Israel. Europe got hit in its heart this time. A difference must be made between sionists and israelian people. Just like american bankers and american people. We must fight together!

^^ + 1

Your source says nothing about the Turkish navy escorting any one

It says it here:

"Ankara warned that further supply vessels will be sent to Gaza, escorted by the Turkish Navy, a development with unpredictable consequences."

Source

As always, I hope for peace and will anticipate cooler heads prevailing. Lets hope that will be the case.

I don't like war..... but I hope there is one between Turkey and Israel.

Israel has gone unpunished for too long... it's time it was taught a lesson.

I hope that the Turks POUND THE HECK out of any Israeli Naval vessels that come within their proximity en route to Gaza, but that's just me.

Europe doesn't have a single military.. (although we are in the process of forming one country, one military, one currency etc) but for now we don't.

I think you mean the "various European armies" and no we won't stand by Turkey is part of NATO and a longtime ally.

Let Israel try,just let 'em.

Where our ancestors failed..it seems we the descendants of Europe's crusaders are destined to achieve their aim for them.

Let the endgame begin!

"No, Israel attacked a Turkish boat in international waters. This is a warcrime. The NATO alliance, per treaty signator, would be required to assist if requested to do so.

With all due offense, you have to be braindead to believe that Israel is the aggressor hear.

There are countless iterations of similar "flotillas" shipping in weapons to Gaza, international aid organizations shipping weapons in wittingly or not, Palestinian militant sympathizers attempting to ship weapons in through concealed, sanitized channels, etc.

Of course running a bunch a boats with crescent moons on the side chanting "intifada, intifada" headlong into the Israelis is a great way to provoke a violent response, and they got exactly that. Now they've gained the political capital for a war ala Lebanon 2006. Expect the scuds to start flying any day now.

"No, the US wouldn't comply, but then that would be illegal. Wouldn't stop us though."

No it wouldn't be illegal for the aforementioned reasons.

Ironically your ancestors were "crusading against" both of the participants in this affair.

And which part of Europe do you speak of as some sort of unified consciousness?

Hah.

If this comes to blows the Israelis will decimate the Turks.

Just. Like. Every. Other. Time.

If the Arabs put down their guns there would be peace. If the Israelis put down their guns there would be a holocaust.

Any poor soul that thinks Turkey will send even one armed ship into Israel's waters, be it recognized or not (I really can't care less), is deluding himself and is basically waiting for the non-existent ending.

Israel is just waiting for the chance to fight an army. All they get is guerilla warfare with people wearing civilian clothing shooting timer based rockets and flea to their houses to later on cry as the IAF bombards "civilian neighborhoods".

You people truly believe the Turkish navy is going to fulfill your fantasies and humiliate Israel? Hmff I don't even know if I should giggle or not.

Sorry but I think this is good news , it's about time that someone had the spuds to stand up to Israel

Whats Israel going to do , start a war with Turkey .... I don't think so .
The only way to beat a BULLY is to stand up to them .

Whats happening is that the world is getting tired of the hypocrisy that is Israel and the US. They allow double and triple standards with regard to what Israel does and the US does but when another country (by law) do something ie Iran and it's nuclear reactor to start, they say they can't do it. Israel went out into international waters and attacked vessels. The sick thing is that in the future I believe that the US will become a pariah state and everybody will use all their means to bring us down. That may sound funny or foolish or it can't possibly happen, but a bully (US and Israel) always always gets taken down. What stops some bullies from being taken down and living another day is to realize that they have been bullies and change their ways.

where does all this crap come from that the idf is some super army capable of defeating any army. they barely beat hezbollah and were driven back to their borders by them, despite bombing the hell out of every civilian target they could think off. even hamas drove them back. this isn't the 1970's. if they could even think about defeating iran they would have done it already. they know that with irans air defence at full force with state of the art russian weaponry, they would be lucky if they can get 1 out of every 10 f-16's through. its all huff and puff, like the puffer fish that inflates itself to deter enemies. netanyahu just cancelled a meeting with obama, those two are bordering on severe dislike, if not hate. im pretty sure if obama told them that if they attacked iran without americas permission, they would be lucky if they ever see a spare screw to maintain their planes again. all their resupply and spare parts will be somehow delayed indefinitely at american ports.
