There wont be any attack while Turkey is involved simply because there wont be reason to. If Israel wanted to board the aid workers ship then all Turkey would do is make sure things are carried out in the right manner this would obviously mean both sides would have to conform to certain rules i.e Aid workers wouldnt be allowed to take anything that is not allowed and Israel would have to make sure that the boarding of the ship is done in an appropriate way. Turkey arent going into this with bully tactics they'll do this as it should of been done and only become the aggressors if Israel stepped out of line.

My opinion only of course.

Obama I think will wimp out. We’ll see if he is an Israeli Zionist Wall Street stooge.

There is a reason why he chose that dual citizen Rahm Emanual as his chief of staff.

WATCH YOUR BACK OBAMA!

It's one thing to have Nuclear weapons , it's another to actually use them , which is why they have only been used twice in their history .

The samson option was precisely made for an 'event'. What level needed is open to question, but it's hard to gauge what Israeli politicians are thinking given even this series of events, i would not be so quick to throw the nuclear card off the table given the unpredictable nature of Israel and what in their minds qualifies as a reasonable cause to launch nukes.

Finally, I waited for the warmongering on this one, its time for Turkey to flex its muscles and give Israel a nice slap in its face. I completely agree with Turkeys move, aid is desperately needed at Gaza. WTH is Israel thinking anyway?! They need to learn a lesson pretty fast before this gets out of control.

I can't but help wondering why Turkey are reacting to this incident in the strongest possible terms. I mean, they are not exactly toeing the party line on this one like a good NATO memer it is. Slaughtering Kurds just doesn't quite make the headlines in Turkey anymore, but national interests is a different matter!

Are they trying to deflect attention away from Iran given they, along with Brazil, have recently signed a nuclear fuel swap plan (source). China also appear to be resisting pressure on a UN censure against North Korea at the moment (Source)! Timing seems quite coincidental IMO.

Either away, Israeli F16's v Turkey F16's - the US military industrial complex never ceases to amaze me!

Why is then Israel allowed to exist? If Israel is a threat to Europe in this manner, you know what...

You know what would be an awesome day? If Palestinian territories were given back to the Palestinians one day, and all those illegal settlements that were forcefully built using all the money sent to Israel from Zionist supporters (including those fund raisers in this country - USA) were used to provide shelter for Palestinians.

What if all that money, and all those new buildings used to further Israeli occupation were instead given back to the Palestinian people. What a day for justice that would be!

Ahhh one can only hope...

Europe seems to be falling apart and Israelis and Turks are going to use this to help it.

Turkey won't do anything, this is simply a political maneuver and nothing more. Israel could literally send Turkey to the bottom of the ocean and their aint much Turkey could do about it, but scream… where the hell did our ships go… Sure Turkey could declare war if Israel did that, but seriously, that's a no go, Turkey needs Europe a hell of lot more the Turkey needs the middle east. Besides all the bluster, Turkey aint gonna start a shooting war because Israel killed some people on a ship because some Captains underestimated Israelis resolve and decided to disobey Israelis demands.

This is nothing but political gesturing… it truly is that simple, no matter how much fun it is to talk about this made up story, to take our minds off of something else going on I’m sure… and no matter how much fun it is for all the jew haters on ATS to come out yet again and tell the world why the jews should not exist.

The statement/question two posts above is a major case in point...

As to Escalation I don't think Turkey has anything technologically compared to Israel

The Turkish Navy has historically been one of the largest sea powers of the Mediterranean.

Exactly historically they have been one of the largest powers, but most of their Navy(check the Wikipedia) is some corvettes, a couple frigates and some missile boats. The submarines were put on order in 2006 and no word of completion. There are no Aircraft carriers which means using air cover from Turkey direct. How long is the loiter time when you have to fly a couple hundred miles

six French-built D'Estienne d'Orves class (B class) corvettes
2005, construction works of the first Milgem class corvette
Two additional Kılıç-II class fast attack missile boats and three additional A class mine hunters are currently under construction.

Plans to build a total of four TF-2000 class AAW frigates,[8][9] the acquisition of a Landing Platform Dock (LPD)[10] and a total of six Type 214 AIP submarines[11][12] were approved by the Turkish Ministry of Defense on 12 December 2006. The RfI issued for the LPD project states that the requirement is for one LPD carrying 4 Landing Craft Mechanics (LCM), 27 Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAV), 2 Landing Craft Personnel Vehicles (LCPV), 1 Commander Boat and 1 Rubber Hull Inflated Boat (RHIB). The Turkish Navy also plans to acquire 2 new Tank Landing Ships (LST),[13] 8 new Tank Landing Crafts (LCT),[14] 16 new Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) with ASW capability,[15] 2 new Rescue & Towing (R&T) ships,[16] and 1 new Submarine Rescue Mother Ship (MOSHIP).[17]

The Turkish Air Force is one of the oldest air forces in the world and operates one of the largest combat aircraft fleets of NATO

Oldest airforces is right, most of their aircraft will not match up with the newest f16 and other various upgraded american hardware, that coupled with the fact that the Turkish have to travel to the fight leaves them at a distinct dissadvantage. Lets not even get into the fact of the disparity between radar systems and counter measures, intel systems, satalites, and electronics.

The big issue here is going to be territorial waters. Today's incident was in International Water which is another story. I think if Turkey really did escort a convoy to Gaza, Israel would wait for them inside the 12 mile limit. Israel still claims the territorial waters off Gaza. Lots of people don't recognize that claim or even Israel. But to the best of my knowledge, please correct me if I am wrong, Gaza has not been recognized as a country by the UN. So I think international law would still recognize Israel's claim.

It would be very dangerous and provocative for the Turkish Navy to enter Israeli territorial waters. If they know Israel at all - and I think they do - they know Israel would attack. So the question becomes, "Does Turkey want to start a shooting war with Israel?"

I am just glad Israel isnt part of nato coz if they was this will be one hell of political alliance fallout.

What if the treasonous US government had to leave NATO so it could sell out American interests, yet again, for its masters in Israel?

More interesting, what if the American people stood up with NATO & against their own treasonous government?

I must be dreaming again.

If the US leaves NATO, joins the US-Israel alliance pact, then what on earth are european NATO countries supposed to do? Go to war against the US? This is crazy.

Excellent news.

I want to see the idf drop onto the deck of a Turkish warship and get their asses handed to them.

Doubtful they will try it.

They appear too cowardly to confront anyone who can actually fight back.

They are good at attacking unarmed civilians, or shelling kids from miles away, or sneaking up on people from behind.

I've never seen them take on a proper enemy.

Not only what you mentioned, but they have an Intelligence capability that rivals that of Israel.
They are worthy foes.

I received the following message from a member of the Belfast Palestine Solidarity Committee which has received word from the Free Gaza Movement that those aboard the Irish vessel "Rachel Corrie" have decided to proceed to Gaza. A full press release is expected shortly.

With Turkish navy support they'll be eager to take Israel down a peg.
