Ottawa smoke likely from distant fires

The smell of smoke permeating much of Ottawa Monday morning can likely be blamed on faraway forest fires in Quebec, firefighters and other officials say.

The strong smell of wood smoke in Ottawa prompted firefighters to deploy their trucks to conduct a search throughout the greater Ottawa area.

However, they received no reports of fires Monday morning, spokesman Marc Messier in a statement.

Woke up this morning and when I looked outside I thought there was something wrong with my eyes! It was quite hazy and there was a thick smell of smoke in the air.

Air quality is crap at the moment, and it's making seasonal allergies so much more fun to deal with -.-
