Hancock Co. not equipped to fight the oil

12.68.233.230

Brian Adam, director of the county's Emergency Management Agency, still had no answer Friday from a BP contracting firm that is storing oil-fighting equipment for Hancock County miles away in Harrison County.

Earlier this week, he said he had requested that U.S. Environmental, hired by BP to combat the oil, send the equipment here, to allow an early response if oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster invades local beaches, marshes, rivers, or bays. The equipment includes skimmers, pumper trucks, and other items.

As a person that is involved in this first hand I am appalled.

Earlier in the week the USCG came and took the spare boom we had here in Hancock County that was being used for spill boom maintenance.

I was supposed to go to Grand Isle LA today but the Local Government there along with BP turn down our request. So one of our Hazmat guys that has some family there is going to sneak in and get some samples off the beach and sneak some photos.

I will post an update soon as I have more information.

Don't these states and counties and parishes know that there is no good way to come out of this thing - no one is going to be on top - We have got to unite and just do this thing. we need an assembly line of people working together to just get this thing done and stop positioning to come out ahead - there is no ahead.

On May 20 I mailed your president to ask for European multi-
purpose oil skimmers. At the same time I asked the German
chancellor Merkel to offer that help to the US.
In the news two/three days later it was confirmed that such
an offer had been made.

A skimmer like the German NEUWERK can vacuum 600m3/h,
a multiple of the reported 800m3 spill per day.

Has anyone on the Gulf Coast seen skimmers from Europe
cruising the coasts or around the up-welling spill ?

What skimmers do you have in the US ?

About 10 days ago I posted this already in another relevant
thread on here.

The local government gets it .... they see big money in their future if the oil impacts the coast. If we were successful at keeping it off the coast they would not have a claim against BP. Well they would have a claim for Manpower and overtime on the LE and Firefighters, But if that thing hits the coast .... they will make out like fat cats.

Corruption in Hancock County rivals LA and New Orleans.

They have about 15 spill response ships near the source and about 200 smaller vessels that can skim in shallow waters.

But most of them are sitting Idle.

BP and the Feds want to kill the Gulf and the Gulf Coast. Why else would they not have everything they could working 24/7?

I personally believe the spill was intentional.

Just making a wild prediction here. Before this whole thing is said and done YOU may just need those skimmers. Thank you for your concern and attempt to help out - I personally will take it from wherever I can get it.
