Where do you people come up with this crap? Like I said before, our Founding Fathers would be retching if they saw this is how our country has become.

One that views that you're not an American if you don't have a flag next to you, or on you, as was the case of the flag pin people...

To see the president on stage so close to Memorial Day weekend without the very symbol of this great nation of ours, the flag, which drapes the coffins of the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country, so we could sit here and converse, is disheartening at the very least.

Did you know that on Memorial Day we honor our fallen heros?

So, the fact that Obama spoke about Memorial Day, about how he's honored for the men and women who serve in the military, about how he commemorates the soldiers who have died defending our nation.

You're telling me that's all null and void because he didn't have the flag next to him...?

Stop... Knock it off, all of you who are attacking him because of this. It's cheap. It's so overtly dumb that you would attack him because he gives a passionate speech on Memorial Day, but it means nothing since they didn't have a flag out there.

Though, you are wrong, since he was wearing an American flag pin on his suit. But really, even if he wasn't, I don't get where having a flag next to you means you're a real American...

I believe in many many things. I just know that if the flag is not present, my freedoms still are. Liberty and all the things that should make America great do not RELY on a flag to exist. Yeah, we get what the flag represents, but apparently, you don't get that the President himself ALSO represents, and leads our great nation. He is the symbol of our country, just as much as a friggin flag! The flag may not be there to 'represent' our country, so instead, the leader of our nation is there. I have NEVER applied the appelation of 'President' to Obama, and never will, unless I make some sort of epic goof, which is always a possibility. He shouldn't feel entirely left out, though. I've never called Carter a 'President' either, probably for entirely different reasons.

Neither do I stress Obama's middle name, even though I have no problem with doing so. If he has issues with such usage, I'm sure it's within his power to have it legally changed.

I do, however, gather a good deal of entertainment out of those who insist on making that an issue.

You're right. The president is just as much as a friggin flag. I'll sleep better at night knowing that. But I was hoping he'd be so much more.

If the man is the symbol, how can the symbol be not the man?

This thread has been debunked. I don't know why they haven't moved it to the HOAX forum, though. Reagan, Bush and even JFK have had press conferences without a flag.

Ok. If that is admitted, then the following cannot apply:

Those crimes can only be committed against one's own country. If, as you say above, Confederates were not US citizens (and I agree with that), then they can no more have committed the listed crimes than using those same charges to indict soldiers of any one of the Allied powers in WWII as having committed them against the German government, or vice versa.

I might not agree with everything he or congress does, but I'd rather him be in charge than the (almost) Ghost and Mrs. Spewer. (That would McCain/Palin, for those of you who don't get vague, bad humor).

Come on, he made sure he didn't have a American flag behind him so he wouldn't offend any foreign countries.

Hmmm, at first i figured the people that didn't care were just Obama supporters and of course they were going to stand up for him and say it's not a big deal.

Then I thought about how if my Canadian Prime Minister (who i absolutely do not support) had a press conference without a Canadian Flag present I really couldn't care less.

I don't think it's a big deal at all, seems like people that hate Obama will grab onto anything to try and make him look worse. Which I think in the end does way more harm to they're cause then good.

saying, can't talk right now I have to find a Flag, any body got flag come on
