Rumor has it that Sestak was to be offered Secretary of the Navy in exchange for bowing out of the race - which is against the law. You know, they
call it rigging an election. Of course, if they can get people to believe that it was only an offer of a non-paid position of some sort, that changes
things.
Ask yourself - would you give up an election bid in exchange for an unpaid gig, or would that sort of bribe only work if the offer was something
big?
Another rumor is that Clinton agreed to help put out this fire in exchange for Obama to not run for re-election in 2012 and instead to help push
Hillary into the White House.
First of all Obama will run for reelection. That's not seriously in doubt is it ?
Sounds like a highly scurrilous rumor.
I heard Sec of the Navy, but I think that was later confirmed to be a position on an unpaid intelligence advisory board. Still a prestigious position,
and one that would afford ample connections to defense industry executive jobs or lobbying Congress or whatever.
Ideally I think Obama just wanted Sestek to stay put in his safe House seat. But once they saw how vulnerable Specter became, they really couldn't
care less he was toast.
I really fail to see anything unethical in what ocurred. The election law expert Fox News invited to be interview "On the Record" stated the laws
people are quoting against him were not made for situations like this. There was no crime. If you want to complain about a crime, complain about the
lack of independent govt regulatory oversight of industry and finance.
