Actually, Bush went to his cabin in Texas pretty often as a president. I don't know of any man who can handle working 24x7x365. You may call it a vacation, but you really have no clue how much work he does on these 'vacations'.

I love how selective some of the folks here on ATS here. They declare that the government is doing TOO MUCH, then all of the sudden the government is doing too little.

Before:
They are mobilizing FEMA, we are all going to be sent to FEMA camps!
Now:
Why will the president not mobilize FEMA!

Excellent points. I also find it interesting, in an appalling sort of way, that there seems to be folks out there who LONG for some sort of terrible disaster just so they can ding Obama for it. Sick mentality really.

Was Bush in CONUS? Did he go to the Normandy Cemetery to honor the fallen there?
Thanks

Obama will be speaking at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Monday. The Arlington veterans are not the only ones that matter.

But whining about where and when he takes a vacation (I don't care WHAT day it is) makes you sound like a bunch of biddies at a quilting bee who have nothing better to do than bitch about something that's really none of your business! He is not obligated to lay a wreath.

Or is it that you all think he should be more politically correct?

best post ever lol stirrrrrrrred for you.

I really don't care what "everyone else did". They're not POTUS right now. I didn't vote for them. I guess this is what my grandfather was trying to tell me when he said, "Remove the draft, and you get a bunch of people who don't care what's going on." You're entitled to your opinions, but don't belittle the service my family has done for this country. We DESERVE, and we've EARNED every right to be pissed off. And yes, I will be honoring the fallen soldiers, the POWs and the MIAs. Hell, my parents live on Ft. Hood. So what the hell are YOU doing on Memorial Day? I know what I'm doing.

edit - And I fully agree he should be in the Gulf right now. If he's attending Memorial services anywhere, it should be in LA.

Oh, and where were you people when Reagan laid a wreath in honor of SS soldiers at Bitburg? Would you feel better if Obama did that AND paid respects to the CSA traitors as well?

George Bush and Ronald Reagan both did this.

Just got done listening to Weiner Savage rant about the same damn lie. It is a lie. I guess we just forget when the last two presidents to do it were Republican? Maybe we just fail to research facts when it looks like Obama will look bad? Maybe people are just happy being ignorant fools with no mind of their own?

Weiner Savage?!!? You have got to be kiddding me....

You must be the only guy who listens to that loser. Seriously, I'm begging everyone to listen to this guy for 10 minutes, just to see how much of a "Wiener" he really is. Typical lib nonsense. Of course he cant defend Obama's actions, so he has to keep railing on old repub presidents. I'm so sick of people getting their panties in a twist when ANYONE CRITICIZES OBAMA, but you guys can slam Reagan, a guy who has been dead for a while. That seems hardly fair, nor relevant to current events.

I have no choice but to say "Good day Sir!"

Did you read the OP?

Obama is doing something no American president has ever done in history: Skipped the laying of the wreath at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.

Incendiary, factually incorrect headlines get rebutted. Them's the breaks.

Yeah! It's not your job to do anything. Just put it off on someone else. "It's not my job!"
GREAT attitude!

You never place the blame squarely on Obama's shoulders, It's always his critics' fault. You cannot criticize him and let it go at that.

WHAT???? You can only say that if you haven't read my posts.

READ THIS POST

I ripped him a new one! I put the responsibility SQUARELY on his shoulders. He didn't CREATE the Gulf Spill, so I don't blame him for it, but I do blame him for his lack of response.

Sorry if I took your precious and petty hate thread off topic to talk about something important. It won't happen again.

I guess North Korea doesn't rank on a legitimate reason for you. With the way the situation is and the need for national security, you really don't know why he changed plans.

Ok Thanks for the info. I dont think the POTUS is that dumb to ignore the importance of that day to the US. I am not a big fan of his but we should still seek the truth regardless of personal feelings.

If the POTUS is going to a menioral service then he is doing the right thing, if he does not then the GOP will tear him apart.

This wasn't criticism - it was a flat-out lie.

And Reagan is relevant, since he's an example of a previous president who did what "no president has ever done before."

I'm sorry if your cognitive dissonance disturbs you when it's pointed out, but that's not our problem. Last time I checked, ATS was about the TRUTH. And the truth is the ENTIRE POINT of the OP was a lie. A repeated lie, sure, but not verifying facts before blindly passing them on is just as bad as people who blindly accept whatever they're told by the gov't.

Fair enough, though I would point out that the public at large was made aware that Katrina was going to make landfall in the days leading up to it.

All the more opportunity for Nagin and Blanco to do their jobs and evacuate the city, eh? They played like Obama on that one, though.

How about mobilizing FEMA?
Is this NOT an emergency?

Your excuse is that there nothing that can be done to help?

And NOW you want Federal intervention in something that should be handled by private enterprise or by the states affected? Glad to have you on board.
What is FEMA supposed to be used for?

Are you implying that BP is doing such a bang-up good job that we don't need to worry about it?

Some things are most definitely big enough for the federal government to worry about, like the oil blowing out of the ocean floor at the moment.
Some things they don't need to worry about, like how much salt I put on my food.

Funny that he is called elitist, yet he is doing what every other American is doing and it is wrong.

He is honoring SOMEBODY, that is all that matters.

Is it nice to lay a wreath at Arlington? Of course. No one is denying that. ARe the soldiers in Arlington the only ones who have fought and died? No.

I think to aknowledge other cemetaries is actually nice.

Oh dear, a politician skipping a photo op.

It think it's more telling that he's been to troop funerals and Bush never did. He's been to church and Bush never did while in office in the town of DC.

I have serious problems with him selling out to corporations. But Socialism and phony Patriotism? Please.

Stop the stupid "birth certificate nonsense" and stop this -- if Obama is doing something wrong, you obscure the issue with this side show, that I can speak for the massive populace at large and tell you; "Nobody cares about this but the fringe."

If you care about this, it might be an indication that you have a Militia membership and you stack your new TV on top of your old broken TV.

That was my reply to a post asking where everyone would be on Memorial Day, calling them hypocrites.

The poster has no idea what I will be doing that day, but seemed to think that I will be drinking beer and watching NASCAR.

I don't drink beer unless someone 'forces' them on me which amounts to about sixty ounces per year.

I don't watch NASCAR.

I don't think anyone is looking to me as a role model, which is my point regarding the fact that I am not the President.

My life is not spent saying "that's not my problem". I am involved in charitable work and donate my time and some money to these things.

If you follow the President all day, and EVERY function he does, I'm sure Obama is the first President to do such and such and the first HALF BLACK president to do absolutely everything.

Why don't we just say he's the First Half-Black Socialist Muslim Extremist President to NOT go to Arlington for a photo opportunity?

I am sick of this topic so I just have to POST how sick I am of this topic. There are definite problems with this country -- but these people who freak out about this nonsense or birth certificates are HELPING the people who are part of the problem. This is definitely cover for worse things to be done because everybody is going to give Obama a pass.

Liberals did not look at the crap deal that NAFTA was, because they were so busy defending Clinton's right to get some comfort from an Intern -- and THAT was ignored, because for 8 years Kenneth Starr had been going after 5 other court cases in which the President was EXONERATED. I never voted for Clinton -- I voted for Ross Perot, but even I was on his side at the end of the 90's because all these idiots were attacking the guy for "lying about a blow job." Then Bush starts a war, robs the country, lies about everything, puts in place the Constitution destroying Patriot Act -- and crickets are chirping about impeachment.

What a bunch of fools. Worrying about Arlington or a Birth Certificate allows a lot worse things to fly under the radar. Stop blowing smoke and go after the GitMo issue, or the BP issue -- stop ruining the debate with this nonsense.

I have been to Arlington.......it is a deep and moving experience of which I feel insignificant in light of the sacrifice made by others..........

You can dress him up like the leader of AMERICA but you know, she knows, he knows and I know hes just another one of those of those guys who feel like the country owes him. He has no class. I know sooo many more people in my own town who are more qualified to be president and with out a doubt more patriotic!! Coming from a military family I would just like Obama to know hes a coward for not standing up for the men and women who fight for us.

I hate to say this but our president is GHETTO!
