Doctors don't have the power that is the issue still. The government has the power in the treatment. Docs can only give the possible treatment options and only those proving to be the least cost will be implemented first, if those don't work then the next least cost treatment and so on.

Unless that has changed recently, docs can only make the suggestions of possible treatment. The government accounting body who pays for the treatment has the final approval of a particular treatment.


What I would like to see is, I get to make the decision on the most effective treatment I see fit. I order the tests that would give me the best picture to make my mind. Patients can pay me directly just like with insurance and I would be responsible for Hospital/ER/Surgery costs and with contracts with pharmaceuticals a drug plan can also be worked up. Insurance companies are a waste and government bureaucracies are a waste.


Also the reason many Canadian docs end up coming down here is for the Cap in Pay the government puts on docs. Capping pay has left Canada a unwelcoming country for many physicians.

That's nice for the people that have money, isn't it?

I prefer my medical staff to care about me first, not my wallet.

PS - it's only dental that needs pre-approval up here and that is because it's through an insurance company and not part of our national plan. We only need pre-approval if we travel out of the country for treatment and expect to be reimbursed when we get back.

When your taxes go up, do to the nature of above, you may have a different attitude.

We have the problem, because we feed and care for them better than they get at home. Well, duh!

I think Arizona should offer to repeal their law that plagiarized US immigration law and replace it with a law plagiarizing Mexican immigration law. That should silence the critics!

I'd say at least 90% of the Illegal immigrants that the United States are trying to get rid of are hard working individuals and as several of our Canadian friends have said getting legal stature in their state is quite simple. If they were to get flushed into the work force in Canada as hard working as they are and as legal tax paying citizens, I don't see how it would be a drain on the public health care system. Anchor Babies would be a non factor as well, are you actually reading what the Canadians are posting man?
