No apologies from you needed. You said a lot of the right things. I went to highschool, not all that long ago, here in the state of Nevada. It was
declining then, and it is collapsing with everything else today. It is we the people who should be sorry, we handed our kids a corrupt institution as
the center of their education. Inaction by parents and real teachers got us to where we are today. Especially in highschools. My generations parents
seemed to think they could just ignore teenagers by calling them "Young Adults" when they are in fact at their dumbest stage of adolescence. They
literally left us in the wild.
And we attack all the wrong things for it.
Kids gun each other down? Blame the guns.
Kids doing drugs? Blame the drugs.
Kids having sex? Blame condoms.
If this is how trite our society has become when it comes to dealing with what education ACTUALLY is, w shouldn't be surprised by the numbers. One
criticism I find valid when it comes to the American Psyche is our inability to take the blame when it is due. We instead settle for kicking the can
further down the road hoping someone else is smart enough to figure it out.
Meanwhile a neighborhood in Chicago is burning. And this trend will spread until we stop treating our children like criminals in a prison, and start
teaching them the essentials of life.
