would a Direct democratic socialist state make the congress useless? If we can vote our laws in why do we need a congress?

What I don't like about American politics is that the politicians are corrupt. Does anyone remember how President Obama repeated he does not take money from lobbyist? look at him now! Now Republicans do the same as well. Nothing is sacred. It would be good for the American corporations, government and the people to work together.

I wish we could vote our laws in

if so
GW Bush
D Cheney
K Rove

would all be property of
the Federal Prison system

and the Patriot Act would be repealed
as well as Dubya's pardon.

Thank you for answering my question. There's no doubt corporate America has a huge money grip on American politics. What is crazy is corporations since the late 19th century has been in control in American elections. I guess money does has power.

I agree. Nothing can change that. Unless somehow we evolved beyond money.

This is what they want and it is a trap. The congress is key in balancing the power of the President. Without it you would have only an illusion of a democratic society and the President would wield absolute power as in countless countries across the planet which lack a legislative body. A number of civilizations have been burned to the ground after their legislative bodies were disbanded including Roman and Ottoman empires. We are already in the transition stage - the congress has had historic low approval ratings since 2006, they are corrupt multi-millionaires and even multi-billionaires, enriching themselves at the expense of the lower classes, showing little regard for justice and honor. Then everyone turned to the President (Czar, Caesar, Sar) as a figure of hope in 2008. A true congress is necessary to save the Republic.

Outlawing lobbying would be a good start.
