Also, when you have two men teaching Americans to hate their government, their president and ANYONE who disagrees with their extremist, racist, and highly immature ideologies...I can't think of any better way to describe the reasoning behind Americans dividing right down the middle.

You presume that, because you're a Progressive, no one has a belief aside from your own. That Conservatives are limited to the hyper-Religious supporters you typically see portraited on the Liberal MSM. What you fail to see is that the many Americans are very Conservative .. the kind that isn't representative by the Republican party.. but because you feel that your beliefs are so superior, you cannot fathom how anyone else can believe differently.. so you point out two right-wing personalities and accuse them of .. "Converting the Masses" ... Because apparently, according to you, they were not Conservative until they listened to them. Talk about ignorance.

I doubt you're a fan of the two pigs, as I believe ATS denies ignorance and the members actually think for themselves.

I don't like Beck because he represents himself as a Libertarian while going off on some off the wall tangents. Aside from that, I have no problem with him actually, I like some of his programing, especially on Economics. I have no idea who the other guy even is. But just because there are members that like either one or both, does not mean they cannot think for themselves... it means they think differently than you.

So ... if right-wing Conservatives (what ever that even means anymore) get their ideas from two individuals.. surely someone must be thinking for you too? ... Ohh.. I forgot.. we should be getting our ideas from the likes of you......

Kudos, to all those students that see the reality in what is happening and what is at stake.

This is an email i received today that I wanted to share with you all. For those of you that can't quite grasp what is truly happening in Arizona and all across the USA, maybe this analogy will help you understand it!

"If you had tickets to a sports event, concert, Disneyland, or for an airline flight, and when you got to your assigned seat you found someone else was in that seat, what would you do? You would call for a person in charge of ticket checking and have the person in your seat removed. You would properly be asked to show your ticket, and you would gladly and proudly do so, for you have bought and paid for that seat. The person in your seat would also be asked for a ticket, which they would not be able to produce. They would be called “gate crashers” and they would properly be removed.

Now in this huge stadium called the USA we have had millions of gate crashers. We have been asking security to check for tickets and remove the gate crashers. We have been asking security to have better controls in checking at the door. We have asked security to lock the back doors. Security has failed us. They are still looking the other way. They are afraid to ask to see the tickets. Many people say there is unlimited seating, and whether there is or not, no one should be allowed in for free while the rest of us pay full price!

In “section AZ”, of “Stadium USA”, we have had enough of the failures of Security. We have decided to do our own ticket checking, and properly remove those who do not have tickets. Now it seems very strange to me that so many people in the other 49 “sections”, and even many in our own “section” do not want tickets checked, or even to be asked to show their ticket! Even the head of Security is chastising us, while not doing his own job which he has sworn to do.

My own ticket has been bought and paid for, so I am proudly going to show it when asked to do so. I have a right to my seat, and I want the gate crashers to be asked to show their tickets too. The only reason that I can imagine anyone objecting to being asked for their ticket is that they are in favor of gate crashing, and all of the illegal activities that go with it, such as drug smuggling, gang wars, murder, human smuggling for profit, and many more illegal and inhumane acts that we are trying to prevent with our new legislation. Is that what I am hearing from all of the protestors such as Phoenix Mayor Gordon, US Rep. Grijalva, even President Obama? If you are not in favor of showing tickets, (proof of citizenship, passport, green card, or other legal document) when asked, as I would do proudly, then you must be condoning those illegal activities."

Unchecked Radical Liberalism will be the Death of this Great Nation

My personal opinion is not that liberalism will be the death of this country. Nor conservatism. What will be the death of this country is a nation divided. We need to stop making people with differing opinions the enemy. You may not like the opinion, but we need to learn to pull together and compromise.

"United we stand, divided we fall," and we have been deeply divided, and the PTB promote further division. It keeps us from working together to kick the political butts of those who promise each side what they want, and deliver both sides a whole lot of debt and policies that serve corporations. (often multinational corporations)

We can agree to disagree, but the real shame is Americans acting like each other is the enemy.

We need to stop making people with differing opinions the enemy.

Your own words reveal what is right under your nose. It's not that we need to stop making people with different opinions the enemy. Its that we have to work toward a culture where OPINIONS are separated from FACT.

Everyone has "opinions' and MOST are based on fallacy or rumor. People PARROT things so much so, that if you actually dissected what they KNOW, you would find it takes up 0.000005% of their brain.

We don't succeed because we don't admire FACT. Opinions needs to be held for only things that haven't been established. And established facts through scientific method or investigative method, should be held up to the light.

Our society of "opinions" is garbage.

Very well put my friend.

That analogy would just be overlooked by who feel the need to keep supporting the illegal behavior.

Great post.

I'm not sure why you consider me a progressive. But once again, I'll take the compliment

I think you fail to realize a majority of tea baggers actually get their "news" and information from Mr. Beck and Mr. Limbaugh. Speaking of, if you cannot recognize the face of modern conservatives, why do you feel you have room to speak of such subject matter?

Really? Conservatives aren't hyper religious homophobic racist bigoted hypocritical greedy sons of guns? I'm not sure who you're trying to convince here...but I don't believe it's working.

As for you liking Beck, that's fine. I'm not a fan of mainstream media outlets in general, let alone sensationalists who make a living off shoving fear down the throats of the American public. Also, if anything, Beck is a sell out. He has a lot of potential to be an actual decent journalist but since he's on Fox, a right wing looney station, he rather get his very large paycheck and kiss the ass of the corporation known as Fox. How much is Fox going to make by the end of this year? 700 Million. What's the greatest way for a "news' outlet to gain viewers? By using the tool of fear. Fox News has been doing this circus act since Bush became president (since I can remember.) Democrats bad, terrorism is everywhere, Progressives who want this country to move forward are evil socialists, Obama is a Muslim extremist who wants to take your guns and kill old people. I know, that sounds pretty insane but it's what Fox preaches and sadly, many brainwashed good hearted people believe it. I know the Republican Party can restore itself and become a decent party. A party that doesn't teach racism, homophobia and keep religion separate from state. But as of now, the party is overrun by very intelligent men who want one thing: Money. Where will they get their money from? From attracting fans who will listen to them because they preach FEAR.

I could go on, but I won't. This thread is about a professor who got boo'd for speaking her mind.

And who do you get your news from?

The Obumbus White House portal or the Robert Gibbs Twitter account.

Or is it the White House Media Wing.

Don't worry about where people get their news, try to debate the topic instead of pulling the race card or you are right wing tea bagger card.

Neither. I actually enjoy investigating on my own and coming up with my own conclusions. Like many others should be doing instead of getting their information from sensationalist slobs on the radio or television.

But I'm glad you pointed out the "you're pulling the race card!!111!!1!!" trick. It never gets old.

Now let's stay on topic of professors getting crapped on for having intelligent opinions

Thank you, that email was a powerful one and it was written in a way to me that there can be no argument of the truth written between the lines.

All Americans only need to look a little to the south of our border to realize that what we see happening in the headlines there, will surely be our headlines tomorrow. As many have spoken here, the only way to defeat this is to unite.

The Governor of Louisiana, did today for his state just as Arizona is trying to fight for in their state. Stop waiting for the federal government to protect your interests and do it for yourselves. I sure hope that kind of thinking catches on nation wide and we rid ourselves of any dependency we have with the federal government.

Its pretty easy to just post all of your racist posts and comments, but I don't have to prove to anyone, many already have an idea.

As far as staying on topic, if the professor actually had something intelligent to say. She might have first talked about the laws in their textual reference, not in a hypothetical bandwagon reference.

How would you explain the pandering Obama, Napolitano, Holder, Wiener, & others who have admitted to not reading the actual law?

Do your news sources mention the ignorance of the above parties or they selectively left that out?

The Governor of Louisiana has got plenty of great days ahead in his future. Its just sad that the state legislature is still tarnished & inhabited by many corrupt officials. NOLA police force is pretty corrupt themselves, that city needs to revamp its entire public sector with caring employees.

There's enough of evidence that majority of tea baggers (get a new name already) get their information from Fox. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. Many Americans (liberals and conservatives) get their info from MSM.

Not sure what you're boat you're on but I hope it doesn't sink.....however, I get the feeling it's half way down.

Isnt this a wonderful tasting stew that's cooking up?
And soon it will be ready to serve, equiped with our I.D. cards and eventually chips in the next few quick generations, all under the guise of absence of immigration control and lack of border security.
Funny how the "cure" was just a desired end in the first place,
and no I'm not for open borders, but I'm afraid we're being played again people.
