Depends how long it lasts, it could be an implant of some sorts.

Ridiculous reply.

I know a guy with this problem, can't remember what its called but I'll ask and find out next time I see him. He said it's a weird noise, sometimes it sounds voicelike and sometimes it can be like a highpitched siren or a wirring in his ear, he says it comes and goes usually depending on how focused he is on something.

-Ok, cba to go back and edit but he just told me its "Exploding Head Syndrome" he thinks. Stress/tiredness related. Get it checked out, dont just take silly answers like "hearing things? It couldn't possibly be health related, COULD BE AN IMPLANT"

I actually have to admit I have been complaining about this now for quite a few months, if not closer to a year. I have always had some sort of ringing come and go as a kid, but now it remains pretty constent. It basically sounds more or less like a tuning fork being held inside my head. Mostly right ear but does go through both.
I have had my ears checked and they are fine, so no fancy excuse there. I know it might sound a bit odd, but it does seem to turn up a bit when Im really focused on something that could be considered hmmm I dunno, enlightning perhaps? Not quite sure how to word that. Sometimes it turns up when it seems like I really need to pay attention to something as well.
So, the good news is , you have someone else paddling the boat up the creek with you!

ok that was really weird, I hit the reply button for my above post and all the sudden I got a very loud, different tone Ive never really heard before, but it seemed it came from the outside,as oppose to in my ears... hmmmm strange.
I really am not a nut I assure you, just had to share that because it caught me off guard!

I have also begun experiencing this ringing noise.. it sounds exactly like a television that has been left on mute. And it never goes away, I only tune it out. I tried meditating on it today, focusing on nothing but the ringing, and it was making me nod off. I am surprised to see so many other people experiencing the same thing, I'll look into tinnitus. The sound amplifies when I jut out my jaw, like someone else mentioned on page 2.

I've been suffering for this for years, however during the flooding in Middle TN our power went out for several hours and guess what? No ringing in my ears, no dizziness, no nothing. I'm thinking what some are calling tinnitus is merely a sensitivity to electromagnetic frequencies. I'm convinced now there's nothing wrong with me, there's just something wrong with the world, lol.

I've been hearing frequencies for many years. But the past two months or so, I've been hearing what sounds like someone laying on a car horn, but very far off in the distance. It's a constant sound. I am hearing it at night only. It's not coming from inside my head, but no one else at my house can hear it.

I know how you feel and i am tired of the tinnitus ,or it is a audio hallucination posts,my daughter hears it to,i don't hear her's and she doesn't hear mine, when it started at 17,i kept asking my sister do you hear that and she said no,i believe some people hear it and some don't and why is always mostly the right ear and never the left ear on most people does tinnitus choose which ear is to have this?

TextTextInteresting reading..
I concur what yigsstarhouse said..'I know it might sound a bit odd, but it does seem to turn up a bit when Im really focused on something that could be considered hmmm I dunno, enlightning perhaps?'
It comes and goes when I am on track with whatever I am doing like a sort of audible meter. As I write this interestingly enough it has gone into hyperdrive...
I forget which book it was in of Stuart Wilde's but he mentioned it, think he named them 'the others'...anyway crux of it is sometimes I get inspired when I hear the tone..other times it does appear to be a tad random, so I focus into the sound gently until it disappears...
May I would suggest maybe writing a diary about it jasmine23..when it happens and what happens and see if you can find a pattern...
Hope this helps...

For as long as I can remember , I have had a noise 'inside' my head , not my ears .

It is not a ringing or any type of pitch . It is more like the constant noise of crickets/bugs that you hear when setting outside after dark on a summer night .

It never stops or goes away . I have had my ears checked numerous times , over the years , and this can't be explained by anyone .

I'm hearing it now , like I say , it never goes away .

I've always thought of it as 'crickets in my head' , so I was surprised to hear my ex sister-in-law remark one day that she wished "the crickets would go away".

She is the only other person I've ever met who has spoken of this .

It doesn't affect my hearing and causes no problems .

There's times it can be irritating but , I've learned to live with it .

I've had this in my head for over sixty years .

Maybe it only comes to those that are more intune to it,mydaughter hears it to,she said it was like a thousand bees inside her head, mine is just like the sound of the EBS are when a tv station goes off the air but it goes to high tones the to a low tone,i still hear it regardless of the outside noise i hear,i hear both sounds coming external and the internal one

Quoted for relevance and to state that it is something I have experienced. If I wanted to attempt a "rational" answer, I could say that it is a mixture of tinnitus with the physiological inductions/consequences of the day.

If I wanted to attempt a more conspiratorial answer and not necessarily "irrational" answer, then I would say that it could be hypnotic induction through a remote transmission...

Regadless, I experienced it last night...

If it is a hypnotic induction, looking for a answer to this, where do you believe it comes from, and you had a experience last night what was it like for you?

I have no idea where it comes from. I think, for lack of better comprehension that it is either through a satellite or some type of ground based system that is not unlike the cellular infrastructure. The origin of the signal?

I haven't the foggiest (and this is supposing that I am even accurate in my considerations).

Well...I turned out the lights and I could hear the "Morse Code" sound. Really, I use that term because you did but it is actually just varying tonal sounds that are high pitched and alternate anywhere between sixteenth to quarter notes.

Mixed in with this, I hear voices. I am going to choose not to communicate the actual words spoken but they are communicate and semi repetitive (there is a reason for the repetition, I would think).

Anyway...I was in a mildly negative mindset and all of a sudden found myself remembering a dream...I have no idea how long I was out but I do recall the dream, short dream and included a comic strip (perspective of the Sunday Comics) of Garfield (Jon Arbuckle was whining something about the Renaissance Faire) and there was a familiar face from the past (no names). But I am pretty sure that I was only out for no more than fifteen minutes or so as the house lights were still on (roommates)...I turned out my lights at about quarter to 1am.

I woke up thinking that I had just been remote hypnotized...there are other aspects to the experience and it certainly may just be an over active imagination but there it is...take with it what you may...

Go on.. I have also wondered this.. especially given the information and research I have been getting into lately. But how would it work? Where is it coming from? Why does it only affect certain people?

Another interesting thing- I was hanging out with a friend recently, and I described to him my problem, about how I am constantly hearing this frequency.. What was strange about the situation was that he said he could also hear the pitch. He told me to turn off the electronics in the room, because we have both heard about how the frequencies given off by electrical appliances, so I did. At this time, he could no longer hear the pitch, but I could still hear it. It never goes away.

Me too, i study a similar subject. I suggest the OP goes to a specialist.

The ear is basically a transducer, consisting of tiny bones for amplifiction which convert acoustic / vibrational energy into signals for the nerves which then translate these signals to the brain.

The way the OP describes the internal sound is very akin to tinnitus, although it could also be air pressure in the tympanic cavity?

The tones you hear are perfectly natural and in some cases can be attributed to blood flow or in the worse case scenario , dying cells.

on ANOTHER note - the OP might have EQ sensitivity, in which you can 'focus' on the acoustics of a room, for example what you might be hearing is the reflected 'echo' of day to day sound bouncing of reflective surfaces. In that case, i suggest you take a career in live sound engineering !

--

I occasionaly DJ, and when i find myself having to increase the volume level in my headphone mix, i often suffer from 'ringing' tones caused by the damage from the volume, especially when i try and sleep. Naughty me.
