The question is:

Is it coming right for us?

If yes, will it fry the satellites and power grid?

We will know conclusively in 17-36 hours.

Phage said hyder flares were harmless and posed no real threat to earth what is your source

And Whatever Phage says is absolute law! Honestly people this whole website is about thinking for yourself and forming your own conclusions.

Not Without Danger
Despite their beauty, prominences and filaments pose danger for the Earth. A large prominence can disrupt communications

on our planet because of the radiation and high energy electrons it sends out. It can also kill power grids by inducing extremely high currents in them and literally burning them out.

And if they collapse suddenly, they can produce even more devastating results here. We mentioned earlier about new magnetic fields working their way up under a filament. This can cause a sudden collapse of a filament or prominence, and result in an explosion called a Hyder flare.

Such an explosion occurred on Oct. 9, 2000. The result was a ‘top of the line’ solar flare, and worse, a full halo coronal mass ejection (CME). The CME struck the Earth three days later.

Fortunately there was no serious effect on our lives.

Phage is right, in and of themselves they do not. When they collapse they can cause a CME tho I think.

Do you have a source besides phage?

Seriously dude. "Phage said" Phage said"

No independent thought or what? lol
jesus, how sad.

"do you have sources, do you have sources"
and all you have is Phage??? haha

btw.. they CAN cause CME's.

Lol. Phage.

He will be here shortly.

To tell us all to remain calm, as there is no danger what so ever.

Let's hope that is the case, and he is right.

Speaking of Phage, we need him to post one of those handy diagrams with the position of the satellite that took the vid, the Sun and the Earth.

I just don't know for sure if it is Earth facing. I think we actually may be dealing with a CME and not a hyder flare.

Latest image of the sun. Has the filament actually colapsed? It is/was facing earth though.

You're welcome. Yeah, get tired of the Phage said line, it's really annoying. I just yahoo'd filament hyder flare and, what do you know, info pops up.
