Darpa Wants Code to Spot 'Anomalous Behavior' on the Job

www.wired.com...

Can software catch a cyberspy’s tricky intentions, before he’s started to help the other side? The way-out researchers at Darpa think so. They’re planning a new program, “Suspected Malicious Insider Threat Elimination” or SMITE, that’s supposed to “dynamically forecast” when a mole is about to strike. Also, the code is meant to flag “inadvertent” disclosures “by an already trusted person with access to sensitive information.”

Well this looks interesting - essentially a clever algorithm that will sit there looking at what you are doing, creating a points system that in turn ranks you to decide if you are up to no good....

Where this algorithm would sit I don't know...something that monitors all internet traffic? I guess it would have to....

I guess the main issue is anyone wantint to do anything 'bad' will seek alternative ways, whilst those that simply want to rank some anger at certain political decisions etc. would end up on the naughty list...

Either way, I cant really see this as a good thing - more a big-brother thing.

Perhaps Google will buy them?!!?

no real way Jose'....
there are people trained to 'read' peoples intentions, they are Profilers & serial killer sleuths... many years of training in a very subjective area.

Psychiatrists & Psychologists, even Sociologists with advenced graduate degrees, have-to-have a good dose of reading 'body-language to approximate what DARPA dreams of making a mechanical process.

If DARPA wants to intuit a persons intents & actions then a lot of biometrics data would have to be instantaneously available...

the only other method is to monitor code traffic to all sensitive sites, areas within those sites, and so- on to the nth degree.

Are we all to be hooked up to lie detectors to get online next year?

a lofty goal indeed., not impossible, but the internat access won't be free and unhindered with billions of digital white 'T' cell analog, swimming through the cyber system., looking for malware bytes seeking a home-host

These corporate electric, plastic, clone slaves have to be kept in line.

We have a carpet coated cubbyhole, just for you, with a wall outlet in just your amperage to plug into.

Do you understand that we are allowing ourselves to be programmed to fit as a cog in some corporation's wheel?

Plugged into the consumer credit debt chain that never breaks & only gets heavier & heavier?

What happened to American innovation? American independent thinking & action. Self motivation, Self interest.

What happened to free thought & free action?

In theory much of becomes viable as we populate data on social networks, forums - move to online banking, bill payments etc. etc. How we live can be measured - followed by how we react to situations.
