Do you have any independent sources for this information, or am I to accept what you and the TV shows say at face value?

It would be good to be able to confirm this aspect of the story, otherwise I'm just blindly accepting what they say like a sheep.

As it is, there is much more corroborating evidence that the plague was carried by rats and fleas. You say that you find it hard to believe that 100 million people could have been killed in this manner, but on what information to you base that opinion? What specifically is it about the "rats and fleas" explanation that makes you doubt that 100 million people could have died in that manner?

Shortly after these objects were seen over a town, the inhabitants would start dying rapidly of this plague.

Could you show us some of those reports?

I think it was the second plague wave we had in Portugal was traced back to some cargo that came at the time from some place (I don't remember where it came from, but I can look, I remember where I read that).

You are absolutely right -- my apologies...

...I suppose I should know better than to doubt the "always cooler alternative explanation" rather than the "not-so-cool generally accepted explanation" -- because, as everyone knows, the "cooler alternative explanation" is always more accurate, even without any evidence to back it up.

Any and every explanation involving chemtrails or aliens (or both!) must be true, simply because the main-stream news doesn't believe in chemtrails and alien visitation -- and if the mainstream news says it's NOT true, then in reality it MUST be true. Always.

The rats were the carriers. There were no chemtrails, just superstitious mumbo-jumbo.

Wow I see we have the pot stirring here.

I did make an error in the OP, The reports came from HAND WRITTEN journals, diaries and the such. There was one individual who cataloged these craft spraying the mist and subsequently died shortly after writing them.

There may have not been any newspapers or printed books at the time,
HOWEVER it seems these sightings were important enough that even the few people that could read and write decided to CATALOG these events.

Please stay on topic. It seems that too often someone looks at a thread, goes to WIKI the subject then copies and pastes the first explanation he finds in an attempt to debunk and look intelligent. Why not take some time to really consider the information we are being presented? Why would the history channel present this information in such a one sided way as of late?

Does anyone recall that they usually had both believers and skeptics on their shows in the past? This Ancient Aliens series has taken a step forward and the programs assumes that aliens exist and are visiting us, and then just continues the show from there..Interesting times we live in friends!

So let me ask again for some reference, just saying that there were people writing about it doesn't mean that they really were doing it.

PS: as I do not saw that TV show (it's not on Portuguese TV, even with all those cable TV channels), could you please explain better what came from that show and what came from your own ideas?
