Five people have been arrested in Pakistan on suspicion of involvement in the foiled car bomb attack on New York’s Times Square on May 1st. Reports by BBC say those arrested include the owner of a company that supplies the American Embassy in Islamabad with food products. The arrests followed a visit to Pakistan by two high-ranking US security officials. The main suspect, an American national of Pakistani descent Faisal Shakhzad, was detained in the US two days after the incident. The police managed to prevent an explosion in New York’s most crowded area after a vigilant passer-by contacted the police station to report smoke coming from a parked car.
