A Cost Effective Solution for Illegal Immigration

I believe bullets are cheaper than mines. After you took out a couple of them they would get the point that you werent playing anymore and BAM the boarder is secure.

How about every time we find an illegal immigrant, we tag them with a tattoo before tossing them back over the river.

If they are caught and identified again, remove them from the gene pool

As good as some of the ideas are here I don't think the USA needs more guns and to put land mines down there.

What needs to be done is get to the root of the problem and that is illegals are a cheap work force.

To stop the illegal immigrants who are for a fact moving over the border for work and cold hard cash, every company found employing an illegal should be fined a silly sum of money like $10 million per illegal. Or even a percentage of the yearly income i.e 75%

Private citizens employing illegals should be fined an equaly large sum. That way you hit people where it really matters once a few buisnesses had been stung employing illegals would be as desirable as employing a crack addict.

Take all the used shipping containers that china abandoned in the US and stack them three high with razor wire at the top and the US side so they can not get off.

It cost $1000 dollars to ship back a empty shipping container.
but only cost about $600 to build one in china.
and if they fill it with $500,000 worth of electronics or other products its paid for
in just a one way trip.

You guys do know that the United Kingdom is an island with no land bridge to put mines on and ppl still get there illegally one way or another. Lots of them. The checks don't stop them all.

I heard that President Obama had dinner with Mexican President Felipe Calderon last night to discuss cooperation between the two countries on the issues that we face today.

I believe this (immigration issue) is a serious issue that will affect the course of America and, in turn, the world.

There are not enough jobs in America for American citizens, let alone the poor of Mexico. Every legal immigrant to America takes an oath to this country. Those who come here illegally do not, and one must ask where their loyalties lie.

As illegals they cannot truly be loyal to this country. So I have a solution, one that takes into account compassion for those who now reside here under the status of "illegal" as well as an important point that we must understand:

If we are on a ship, and there is another ship nearby that is sinking, it is moral to save some of the passengers by allowing them onto our ship. However, if we let too many people on our ship, our ship will sink too and then no one is saved!

Here is my proposition:

- By a certain date, every illegal in this country will be given the option of reporting themselves to the authorities. They will be given two options: have the honor of becoming an American citizen or, for the ones who don't want to be American, the option of being sent back to the country of origin.

- All illegals who become citizens through this process MUST go through the standard process that all legal immigrants normally go through to become citizens. This includes learning about the nation and its principles and pledging allegience to the nation.

- Any illegal who does NOT report by the specified date forfeits the opportunity to become a citizen. Anyone who enters the country illegally after that date will not receive the option of becoming a citizen.

- Simultaneously we will begin immediate work on the construction of an impregnable, secure border that will prevent any more people from "boarding our ship," which will already be at full capacity because:

- We will continue the current immigration laws regarding legal immigration, which allows for a certain quota of immigrants to enter from each foreign country every year. Thus every year a certain number of Mexicans (from Mexico; not illegals as we'll have already made them citizens) will be allowed to become American citizens. (This is not a change in current policy but included here as a reminder -- we do this already.)

On the other side of the coin, we must also turn the tables and start asking pertinent questions -- WHY do the Mexicans want to leave their country and come here so badly? Here's the part the Mexican nationalists will love (aside from the fact that we're going to save the illegals who are already here by giving them citizenship!):

We have to work with the Mexican president to increase the propserity of the Mexican nation! Just as we Americans are concerned about our nation, so too is any decent Mexican, whether rich or poor, concerned about the well-being of Mexico. We will work with Mexico to help build the country into a proud and prosperous nation, so that no longer will their poor seek to flee to America to escape the conditions there.

I believe that through this dual-pronged approach that addresses the true root of the problem, we will be able to move towards an American continent in which these problems will be a thing of the past.

I believe every nation has its own divinely-granted ideology, which when refined and elevated to its highest possible form, becomes the archetype on which to build that particular nation to success. Yes, I look forward to the time when all Mexicans will be proud of Mexico -- rather than seeking to turn America (a nation with our own divinely-ordinanced destiny) into Mexico. And Americans of all races and backgrounds will be proud of our nation, because we will be the shining beacon of freedom and humanity in the world that we were destined to become, because of the enlightened principles upon which our form of government was founded. All Mexican-Americans will be proud to be American!

Let us hope this day comes sooner rather than later, so that all nations may fulfill that noble destiny ordained by our Creator, the promise that one day the problems of the world will be solved, and every nation will be free to live according to its own national principles, in unity with a form of world cooperation that principles itself upon the dignity, preservation, and refinement of every nation to the glory of its God-given destiny.

The only solution is to 100% take away all the benefits they now take advantage of, all of it. This means make it so they cant work, buy a car, house, cant go to school of any kind, no assistance via foodstamps, welfare, etc. nothing whatsoever . If you did this one step they would be forced to leave on their own and they would in droves.

Nothing else will work, they will come if they have a reason to, if you take that incentive away, its not worth it. Its hard for the average american to understand this, but its like sayin, if you can just walk in that bank over there on Friday after 5pm and are not seen, you can have all the money in the vault, and if you get caught no biggie they march you back home and say please dont do that again we dont like that. Heck I know I would give it a shot a couple times, why not, working for the MAN sucks so its worth a try.

Its time to take the country back and get our house back in order.

The solution to the illegal immigration problem is a simple one. It boggles my mind that this is seldom mentioned. I think there are powers that do not want this aspect brought up.

No need to shoot people or chase after them. The answer is easy. Remove the enticement. If any employer caught with an illegal worker was put into jail and their assets taken the problem would be solved over night.

Why don't we just dig a 2000 mile canal from the Gulf to the Pacific? It would create or save alot of jobs, so it would also be a campaign item for the Dems. Jobs could be created on both sides in fact, so it could benefit Mexico as well. Waterway tolls, refeuling stations, rest areas, casinos, hotel/resorts, instant economy for both sides. Split the tolls/taxes 50/50.
Crossing the border could only be done through controlled bridges or ferries.

Impossible I know, but yet a much better idea than a 2000 mile long minefield.

In Australia we found a great solution to the problem that has worked 100%.

You catch every single illegal immigrant and put them behind bars.

They are free to leave at any time, provided they can prove their identity, and find another country that will accept them.
So they are allowed to go anywhere they want in the world except Australia.

Now many of these guys are criminals wanted in their own country, so they are stuck with a really big problem. They either rot in an Australian jail forever, or give themselves up to their own government to face justice in their own country. Many did that.

They thought that destroying their papers before they entered Australia illegally was a great idea. But they quickly discovered that they stayed behind bars until they could prove their identity. That sometimes took several years to do.
Ah, so many illegal immigrants, so few immigration staff.
Sorry Pedro, it could take eight years or more to prove you are really Mexican, and let you go home.........

This policy was very harsh, but it completely stopped the flow of illegal immigrants into Australia.
Even Americans were shipped back to the US in handcuffs, because they overstayed a visitors permit. They even had to pay for their flight back to the US. Either that, or stay in prison here forever.

No need to blow people up or shoot them, just make it very plain that they have a 100% chance of being caught, and when they are caught, a long stay in prison until they can prove who they are, and find someone somewhere who is prepared to take them back.

This system has worked very well in Australia.

Problem with that is life in a US prison or jail is probably alot better than they're used to. 3 hots and a cot and a shower and no need to work, or if you have to work, it's not exactly back-breaking. They could learn English and get a degree while being housed and fed in a US prison. Cable tv, internet, library, excercise, medical and dental, church services, counseling....more burden for the taxpayer IMO.

edit to add: it would possibly work if they were put into general population at a maximum security facility, even for just a day, but that would be too harsh. We don't hate illegal-immigrants, we just want them to do it legally, wait their turn, and become citizens or legal guest workers, and contribute like the rest of us do, and not expect to be taken care of with all kinds of handouts.

A few good bashings and getting stabbed, and a pack rape or two might change your mind about how cushy prison life is.

Nope, never been to prison, but I did go to a Catholic K-8 school with some warden-esque nuns, and I did stay at a lovely place called Ft Dix, NJ for 10 or so weeks of basic training I'm a good boy and stay out of trouble and don't plan on an incarceration.

I know any prison would not be much fun. However, the scary prisons we see on TV are all max or supermax prisons where all the violent and high-risk types go.
Inmates at mimimum-security type prisons, often called "camps", are not going to risk being sent elsewhere by shivving the new immigrant kid cuz he looks fun to pick on. Sometimes there are inmates with violent histories at minimum security locs, but they are there after 20+ yrs of good behavior at a max. Again, they aren't gonna get involved with an infraction that will send them back to max.
Most of the prisons in the US are minimum-medium types. Only 25% are max/super-max. Federal minimum prisons are nicknamed Club-Fed.

If the US locked up illegal immigrants, you could be dang sure that every liberal politician and civil-rights group would be involved making sure they were treated better than well.

The best way to stop illegal immigration is to stop offering jobs to them.
Have harsher and stricter laws for employers.

You want a job as a former illegal immigrant? Start a temporary worker visa program. Had an anchor baby as such worker? Baby will not be an American citizen unless you go through the whole process of becoming a legal citizen.

Obviously an illegal immigrant has no legal identity, so can never find work.
Unemployment benefits?
No an illegal immigrant has to provide proof of identity.
Free medical care ?
No, an illegal immigrant would not have a health care card.
Driving license ? No.
Bank Account ? No
Credit cards ? No
Rental accommodation ? No
Vehicle ownership or registration ? No
Insurance ? No

An illegal immigrant becomes a non person, an outlaw and social outcast, with no paper trail, documented history, or legal identity.

So what can an illegal immigrant do in Australia ?
Live under a bridge, beg for food, and just pray that no police officer or official ever asks for your name and address.

If America adopted a similar policy, the problem would just go away.

But you do not understand the problem here in the USA. It's the crooked employers who are cheating. They hire these illegals at substandard wages. They don't pay any taxes on their under the table wages. No healthcare, nothing. The other competing companies can't compete with that so to stay in business they must do the same thing. And so the problem snowballs.

I have a solution for the illegale immigrant problem.
It is going to be harsh, and require something that no person in the US would ever see, and send a clear message to those breaking the laws of the country will no longer be tolerated:
1) Not only support the AZ law, but also enforce all of the immigration laws of the US.
2) Any and all businesses who are caught hiring illegale immigrants are not only fined, but guess what the management goes to jail and are fined.
3) All illegale immigrants who have snuck in more than once, well guess what you are now in prison, and will be released when your own government pays to have you returned to their home soil.
4) The question of if an illegale immigrant will or will not face the death penalty is just answered as yes, as they did break a law that requires such.
5) Those who engage in smuggling people into the country, and are convicted will be leaving in a coffin, automatic death penalty.
6) If you are here for one purpose and diviate from that purpose, it is a felony and automatic prison.
7) Now mind you that we are a nation of immigrants, and countries who want to send their people here, that is fine, let them set up offices in their home countries to do the background checks and fill out the forms. Change the forms on a weekly/monthly basis before giving a visa, to where any mistakes can be caught and those who are coming here to just break out laws can be caught and prevented.
8) Removal and elimination of all Sanctuary cities in the USA. If a city wants to be a sanctuary city, fine, they can pay the federal government say 20,000 per estimated number of illegale immigrants in the country and if any of them breaks the law, the understanding that the federal government will move in and go door to door in one sweep, unannounced.
9) Now the boarder, secure it. On our side of the boarder, you start with digging a trench at least 50 to 60' deep lined in concrete with ground sensors on it, having a verticle drop. The ground sensors would go off in the indication of tunnling under ground, then several rows of concentina wire that goes up a good 10 foot tall followed by a large fence. I would also think eletrified areas of the fence would be a good idea. May seem extreme, but it would put a halt to the flow of illegale immigrants.
10) Adopt laws like the rest of the world when it comes to illegale immigrants. When one of their leaders complains, tell them take a look at their policies, and laws, then come talk to us about what is fair and humane.
Yes it would be harsh, but if countries started to either get their nationals back in mass numbers or a bill, stating you have have them back when you pay for such, it would go a long way to deter and solve the immigration problem.
And one final thing:
This is America, we wave and respect the US flag, we will no longer honor foriegn holidays, and those who go out and protest flying a foriegn flag or fails to fit into the country, well they may want to consider leaving the country as we can afford to be charitable to them. And if a child of an illegale immigrant is born here, the child can stay, the parent will be sent home, child has the option, give up your citizenship or get put into foster care or an orphanage.
