But... doesn't California itself own stakes in Arizona power companies? If so, this threat seems kind of silly to me.

When I was in school, we'd always learn about earthquakes and the shifting of the earth's crust. In these lessons, I was always taught that one day California would break apart from the mainland U.S.A. and sink into the ocean.

These days I find myself wondering, "Well, what the hell is it waiting for?"

As far as what Americans Quibble about is mostly our Business and since you didn't have the fortitude to state any where from what country you are from. Then I have to assume, You know absolutely nothing about illegals in the boarders cities of America.

I hate to say it but this woman is the typical Obamatron liberal. So painfully ignorant, self righteous, brainwashed and misinformed it is truly painful to listen.

These are people who are allowed to vote!!!!!!!!!!

Insanity.

Edit to add- I hope AZ turns the lights out on these LA progressives, maybe they can all sit around together in the dark and learn to speak Spanish

hAha!

That video was too awesome!

Savage: You're telling men like me who work for a living who pay your welfare check, that I should be limited in how much I make, so that you can make more money doing nothing?

Jo: Well, um, I don't think that you pay my welfare check I think that Obama pays my welfare check...

Did she really say that? LOL! No wonder why we cannot solve any of our issues with such misguided people running around.

And did she really say that we need to put a limit on how much individuals can earn, and that wealth should be redistributed? And people say that these United States are not awash in socialist propaganda...

But I personally hope that AZ tells CA to shove it.

Off topic, you still dreaming that America is not a terrorist state.

ON topic, signs of devision with in the states are more and more revealing. This is what they were trying to hide for a long time.

Far be it for me to talk about CA but here goes. I notice many members here are talking down on CA but you really should read between the lines. CA gets a very bad name from the idiots in San Francisco, San Diego, LA, etc. The rest of it is probably more like home to many of us here. They have their loonies in those big cities, but the rural folk (the ones I met) were quite decent and hated the big city loons as much as anyone. As for the post, glad to see the mayor said that, I hope AZ retaliates properly.

I vote yes to cut the power off California

I am from Napa Calif. I live in England now. When I got out of the service I receive no support from Calif being a Veteran. My job promise by congress overruled by Safeway and Retails Clerks Union. I could go on and on but then I will be off topic. Everytime I come home in the last 26 years I don't recognized home. I have been told by many people to get a head in that area now you almost have to be illegal. Well I was totally legal. Decided to raise my kids in England since Calif did not like Veterans of my era. Its time someone takes a stand for the native California. The transplants have pushed many Ca out of Ca. I fully support Arizona in what they are trying to achieve and if Ca gets in the way then let them learn the lesson. California is almost bankrupt by their behaviour, maybe a power cut will show them the light. I am not racist if you are their legally kool but that is not the problem which is what Arizona has passed the law for.

SnF OP for this article

If, as California says, Arizona is a rasist state, why in the world would they buy their electrisity from them in the first place. Seems to be a bit of hypocracy, wouldn't you say?

Bottom line is this. It would seem that 80% of Americans find California to be goofy at best or unpatriotic at worst. If I were California, I would cool it. Imagine a 49 states boycott of all California products.

I live in California and you know what....

i dont understand the debate around this issue.

"You mean people illegally trespassing our national borders should be legally allowed to stay here and work?"

Of course they shouldn't.

Think of how bad things are right now...

AZ just made a law to enforce another law.

Ill go out and say it: "If you are against the AZ law you are against America. Plain and simple."

This law shouldnt even exist, but thanks to our governments worried about votes a state finally had enough and had to step in.

PS: THe mayor of LA really has no authority to do anything. Although his boyocotting is just bickering, itll be interesting to see what the Governator does.

The governator has a fun trip ahead of him. Hes one of hte most liberal conservatives out there so i really have no idea what his stance on this will be.

Although I've been lurking here for several years now, I rarely post, but I have to chime in on this one...

Some of you people should be ashamed of yourselves! Don't you see that by spreading hate and lumping all Californians together, you are doing exactly what TPTB want you to? - To further divide us.

Many (if not most) people in CA would stand by your side and cover you when TSHTF, and yes, even those in the big cities... even gay people, Democrats and artists.

Regardless of which "side" you're on over the illegal immigration debate (and I'm not taking sides here, not now), your ignorance and stereotyping will only serve to further divide this country. Hate is not the answer.

I bet I could round up 100 illegal immigrants (or legal Californians in LA or SF for that matter) in an hour that would be willing to fight and die to save this country from the tyranny that now pulls its strings with who knows what greedy, evil intentions in mind.

Honestly people, there are bigger fish to fry here and again, I'm not condoning illegal immigration (AT ALL), but hate is not the answer. When you start hating large swaths of fellow humans simply because they live in a particular area (many of which don't have the means to move elsewhere in this economy), you let "them" win.

Be mature and enlightened. Humans = Humans... the smart ones should be able to work this crud out! The others are just part of the problem... on BOTH sides.

As much as i agree with you on the "bigger picture", i have to say you really dont understand how bad the problem is.

Illegal immigrants are not U.S. citizens. I can garauntee that if America was doing as poorly as Mexico economy and corruption wise they would have never come here. For that reason alone shows that they dont live here because they like America, they come here to make more money.

I had a co-worker from guatamala. he was here with a visa(aka LEGAL). He ended up going back to guatamala after about half a year. Do you know what he said?

"I should have come here as an illegal [haha] then things would have been ok. Right now its tuff."

He was a really cool and nice guy, greatest attitude, but he just couldnt take it.
Now this guy is a LEGAL immigrant, you really think these illegals have it bad?

Free food, healthcare, schooling and in some cases housing meanwhile they dont pay ANY taxes and make almost the same amount of money as a citizen. How is this fair one bit?

This is all besides teh fact that we are talking about a law here called our borders and national sovereignty.

As an outsider, I have to agree with AZ.

I've travelled around the US and I have to say that there is a distinct difference in the southern border states, especially Arizona and California, which seem completely overrun with non english speaking immigrants. I personally didn't like Calif. at all. Seriously, for a Brit to say that a place has too many rules and regulations takes a lot!! I thought the UK had a monopoly on nanny state rules until I went to California.
Dry state my arse!!

I'm not sure how your reply has much to do with my comment. But I appreciate your input.

It appears Pierce's plan isn't tenable. Alan Bunnell, a spokesman for APS, the energy company that owns the nuclear power plant, tells Yahoo! News that California owns a stake in most of the Arizona-based plants that provide them with energy, including the nuclear facility in question "They actually are owners in them, it's not like they have contracts with them," Bunnell said.

AHAHAHAHHAHA!@!!!#RGDFG

I live in California, and I support Arizona's standpoint 100%.

It really pisses me off that illegal immigrants run a MUCK through construction, given there is none, and the economy is crappy, who are people going to higher? ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

I can't wait for this.

Lawsuits smawsuits. People, people, people.

"Workers at the blah blah blah Arizona electrical plant have accidentally caused a problem with several sets of the the main circuit breaker panels. During routine maintenance the main panels were tripped causing a shutdown of one of the main power distribution nodes. To prevent a catastrophic failure of the electrical grid, power to Los Angeles has been shut down temporarily. It seems that the panel replacements needed are shipped in from California and Mexico. Until either can get these panels to the plant, I guess the city will be in a brown out.

Related to this news, with the way that California and Mexico have not been cooperating with Arizona on the illegal immigration issue, there have been huge delays to anyone coming into Arizona that are not residents of Arizona. With heightened alert in case of terrorists from either neighbor, these extra precautions have been installed.

In further news, Los Angelenos after 3 days have began eating each other."

This brought to you by the endisnighe "sarcasm" network.
