What makes me laugh about all those who are against 'Socalism', and seriously to call what you have in America Socalism really makes me and a lot of other British and Europeans laugh, is that so much of your country is run under this 'Socalist agenda'.

Public libraries, Police, Fire Dept, Medicare, Medicaid, your whole Armed Forces(i.e. free healthcare, free education). Do you want to see that taken away?

I believe that we should replace most of the things you listed with private run enterprises. Things like libraries could easily be turned into private enterprises where you pay a few dollars a month like you do at the video store.

Medicare and MEdicaid should be phased out, because we cannot afford it.

Armed forces are not socialist as it is for the combined defense of the nation, how else could you do it.

Fire departments and police could be privatised as well. For instance our Garbage collection is private, but the city bills us for the service and finds one contractor to do the work each year.

Fine thanks. They performed heart surgery on my Granddad a couple of months ago and saved his life, and he did not have to pay a penny. So yeh pretty good. I don't claim our system is perfect, but it's there for everyone.

I can't seem to get the gist of this thread. I mean, why should a congresscritter be investigating a private individual? If Beck is part of some pricing scam, aren't there regulatory agencies whose job it is to investigate this?

Goodness knows congress has enough work to do without this crap. I rate this down there with the Senate hearings over athlete steroids. None of their business!

If Goldline is really ripping off their customers then that would be fraud. So shouldnt he be going after Goldline and prove they are breaking the law instead of worrying about Beck advertising for them? Whats next, do we go after every tv show that had ads for Citibank, Goldman, AIG, Bank of America, etc..

Police, armed forces, and these other services you mentioned are not socialism. We that have actually studied what it means laugh at you guys who try to justify socialism by using non-producing services as an example of it.

Non-producing services:
Police
Firefighters
Government employees
Military and other national defense.

None of this is production. It is a service we pay for through taxation. These services are not economic drivers, they are absorbers of economic activity, albeit necessary.

Socialism is the control of the means of production of goods and the distribution thereof. It is prices set arbitrarily by government, it is valuation set by government, it is allocation of resources set by government.

If Websters dictionary isn't your flavor I recommend the Oxford dictionary.
Glenn Beck talks about a system being set up to disadvantage and punish the producers in this country by forcing them to accept government control through taxation and mandate of the fruits of their labor.

In this country, that is a violation not just of our individual rights, but the means by which we maintain those rights.

They've been doing this for decades. These progressives who seem to favor the left, but quietly infect the right with their imperialistic BS. Placing us between two extremes walking the same road.

Socialism is an economic theory, derided even by the likes of Winston Churchill, and Margaret Thatcher. Socialism is NOT a service provided by government, it is distributed stagnation passed off as measured prosperity. You do NOT hve a right to the fruits of my labor any more than I do yours. But we must respect each others rights.

Big Government, under any flag, is a fearful master, as Jefferson would say. Because a govenment already drunk with power will do what it thinks it is must to maintain and expand that power.

The government is supposed to be bound by the constraints of the Constitution for a reason. When you give an inch to a despot they will shoot your face off for a mile.

Weiner (aptly named) should call the SEC and the FTC. I do think a lot of these companies people advertise for should be investigated. This is not me knocking gold buying at all so don't start calling me a progressive. The truth of the matter is quite a few of the major gold hawkers heard on the radio rip people off all the time. You have to be very careful when you are buying metals period. Do your homework before you buy. Check the BBB, check auditors, check everyone you can!

The Obama Administration has tried everything from thier little back bag to destroy Glenn Beck..
Obama and his minons, are trying to convince people that Becks nothing but a wacko..don't listen to him he's nuts, and is just trying to make a buck off the backs of hard working Americans...Really???

Not necessarily. We don't have price limits on most things. Goldline can overcharge as much as they want. If the consumer doesn't do comparison shopping, it's his fault, not Goldline's.

Wake up people. I know a lot of you dislike Glenn Beck. But unlike the vast majority of shows on TV, Beck is dealing with issues I and many others have been for years.

It's easy to cut a man down, but it's not so easy to cut down a mans ideas.
So they're going after his sponsors in order to shut him up..If Beck is so wrong, why all the effort to shut him up?

This is the first time I've spoken out for Beck. I usually let this crap slip, but this is an obvious attempt to shut down a man through his sponsors because they have nothing of fact to use against him.

This kind of crap is getting old. No one can discuss the merit of what this man has presented. They can only discuss the man. A true sign of intellectual bankruptcy.

Its so freaking obvious its right there in plain sight. They can NOT allow him to out their moves like this and expect to get things done under the radar.
There have been people like him all through history that spoke freely and loudly about what was going on. They too were made to look like crazies or the enemy. I agree that he is depressing and it is all doom and gloom.

Guess what.. Welcome to reality! Its a cold cruel world out there and some people will put their boot on your neck at the snap of a finger for personal gain.

Information like what is presented in his shows is not for everybody. Some just cant handle it or they want to block it out. This is understandable.

If he was spouting slanderous lies don't you think they would have proven him wrong by now and shut him down? Instead we get lame crap like this Gold investigation. Its so pathetic.

What Beck talks about is not new to me at all. I've know all I need to know about progressives since I was 14 years old when I did a report on Woodrow Wilson. I got a hell of a lot of crap for it, but it got an A.

I'm almost 26 and in nearly all the time in between I have never heard anyone but Beck talk about history in such an accurate fashion. Say what you will about his presentation, but if you want the meat of the matter, FACT CHECK.

I learned this stuff in highschool with very minimal effort on my part. Just some reading, like 2 months worth, and about 30 pages of text, later condensed to a series of bullet points spanning about ten pages. I can almost reproduce it from memory, though I would need references to remember everything. If I can do it when I was 14 so can anyone today. No excuse for ignorance.

Unfortunately the Better Business Bureau is just as corrupt as Weiner or others.. If you pay your dues on time and you pay the top tier of the dues they will never give you a below A rating. I've come across a few businesses that have supurb ratings but dismal customer service.

So the moral is not to totally trust the BBB..

Now if Glenn Beck's contract have anything that say he is the promoter of such adds then he could be held accountable for whatever results coming from promoting such an add.

But if this is the media outlet income source and used during his air time is not his fault.

Maybe somebody with more knowledge can explain, how he can be held accountable.

Still the congressman is just fishing for Beck with some personal purpose here

No Beck himself is an advertiser for Goldline, I also believe he supports them, and "claims" to use them himself, as they are one of the few advertisers that haven't been scared away by the Obama machine. If in fact Goldline *is* a disreputable organization and it's all a scam, he could be liable for conspiracy to commit fraud (That is stretching it btw, but knowing how we're operating in the country nowadays it's not too far off) , however, I do not believe this is the case, they may make a tidy profit, but as for the markups, even Beck himself pointed out the Mint makes a 1000% markup on it's products.

This is just Anthony Wiener trying to make another sensationalist crusade in an election year, nothing new, nothing out of the ordinary for him.
