Ever since I was little I have always been fascinated with history. I love history. I have dabbed into telecommunications but also like biology. I am honestly thinking on pursuing a PhD in history. What do you guys think about this? Just wondering?

it seems to me this is not really something you can ask others about. You probably have a good idea what both will involve. So best of luck where ever it is you end up going. If you are starting college that is a good place to find out if its what you like doing.

Questions to consider...

1. What degrees you have now
2. How long will it take
3. How much will it cost
4. What do you want to do with the degree (teach, consult, etc.)
5. Considering all of the above, is it worth it to you

Personally, I've been kicking around the PhD idea myself, but I've decided that I won't pursue it unless I'm teaching somewhere (and so can go for free, as faculty)...

My Masters is in Business Administration though...so the PhD's available are limited. Still, I like the idea of being Dr. Gazrok.....

Well, do you know exactly what history is?

It is nothing more than a persons version of what happened.

Not what really happened but an opinion of what happened hidden as the truth.

History is being re-written right now and nobody knows it.

The government employees hundreds of "historians" to re-write what really happened so generations will believe the new version.

It is called disinformation.

So you basically want a career in creating disinformation.

I think there are skills people find they are good at.
I think there are skills people find that they really like.

If you can marry the two, you'll be better off.

There are things we are good at, and things we like to do.
you owe society what you are good at, if you want fullfillment.
you owe yourself what you like to do, if you want fullfiment.

just my opinion,
good luck with whatever you choose to do.

peace,
john

If I had it to do all over again, I would go into some sort of media oriented field. Film, TV, writing, etc...mostly recession proof, good $$$, creative, fun.

no matter what your major....

always minor in business. I didn't and regret it.

MS in anthro. and minor in psych. not many opportunities for me unless I peruse a phd and become an academic. No thanks!
