US Coast Guard Censoring Oil Disaster Reporting

This is VERY troubling.

This is a violation of Constitutional FREEDOM OF THE PRESS.

The US taxpayer funded Coast Guard along with oil spill contractors told a CBS news film crew they would be arrested if they didn't turn around & leave.

US government censorship complicit in covering up the BP environmental atrocity.

When CBS tried to film a beach with heavy oil on the shore in South Pass, Louisiana, a boat of BP contractors, and two Coast Guard officers, told them to turn around, or be arrested.

"This is BP's rules, it's not ours," someone aboard the boat said. Coast Guard officials told CBS that they're looking into it.

As the Coast Guard is a branch of the Armed Forces, it brings into question how closely the government and BP are working together to keep details of the disaster in the dark.

Furthermore, this may not be the sole incident of its kind. According to Mother Nature Network's Karl Burkhart, his contacts in Louisiana have given him unconfirmed reports of equipment being turned away or confiscated.

More TREASONOUS actions by the treasonous US military & government.

Contacts in Louisiana have given me numerous, unconfirmed
reports of cameras and cell phones being confiscated,
scientists with monitoring equipment being turned away, and
local reporters blocked
from access to public lands impacted by the oil spill. But today CBS News got it on video, along with a bone-chilling statement by a Coast Guard official:
"These are BP's rules. These are not our rules."

Obama is just another right wing fascist traitor.
A meat puppet Whore for BP & other corporations.

I guess the fascist corporations learned after Katrina that if it gets on film & gets on air, it will expose the horrors these greedy pigs have created.

This isn't Obama's doing .... it's his bosses'.

Corporate America now directs law enforcement and security, which was to be expected since they found out the people weren't simply "accepting" their 'good intentions' in the matter.

You want to sound troubled too, because i was thinking last night that theres a massive problem. And im not talking about damaged due to oil. Im talking about the massive earthquake which i think may have a possiblity due to the sea water replacing the oil in the reservoir which is leaking. Because if im talking sense then the oil that has leaked was replaced by sea water. What negative effects will happen if this is right? Earthquake? Land sinking into the ground?
I may be wrong, who knows? Anyone?

It's also been classified as a matter of "national significance." Therefore the media is required to report only what they are released to report. It's quite obvious this is bigger and worse than they are letting on. And by the way, Maxmars is on the money: if you think Obama is in charge, wake up. He's not.

Thanks for getting this out. It used to be that journalists were respected, but now if they don't toe the corporate line, they are arrested. This is despicable.

What baffles me is why BP gets to make the rules. In any other situation, be it an individual or a company, whoever/whatever causes a royal disaster gets punished. In this case it's the reverse.
Not only are they not punished, but they are also protected!

Instead of the government laying down the law the government says "hey, guys, we're on your side! We will help you out!"

Jeez, Louise! How freakin' backwards could this situation be!? Don't worry BP, Uncle Sam thinks you are the bee's knees!

First I have heard of that business of being classified as a matter of "National Significance" or that any restrictions could be placed on the media.

Where did you hear that?

It is still America? Freedom of the Press? Constitutional Government?

Or has Zero flushed all that down the toilet?

Having been through Katrina myself, this is what it was like.

No dead bodies, no big deal.

War in Iraq, and Afghanistan, no dead bodies of our soldiers to be seen, no big deal.

No dead animals, and other wildlife to be seen, no big deal.

I remember seeing dead bodies of US soldiers on tv, during the Viet Nam war.

What people don't see, they become numb to.

What if a terrorist group had come to this country and caused a spill of this magnitude? We would find someone to blame and possibly nuke them! But they are protected!!

Right now some grubby congressman or senator is walking around with a class action protection rider in his greasy hand. Just waiting to insert it into some other bill being passed at the last moment.

Freedom of the press ain't in the MSM my man. Need I mention Katrina, where the Second Amendment was virtually suspended without any executive order at all?

Saw the video this morning and, even as cynical as I am, I was left slack-jawed. The reporter/camera crew were threatened with arrest for being on the beach to report on the oil spill.

Straight from CBS website:

Just friggn unbelievable!

Good points, chorizo. It makes me wonder why terrorists would even care about America any more. Why should they? We've got Uncle Sam. He's worse than Al Queada and all the others put together.

Thank you for this thread. Either the gov is trying to pass off the buck to BP, or we are in worse shape than I ever realized. "BP contractors..." I wonder if they are on loan from BlackWater (now Xe). They looked surly. This is really bad news.

They can't hide this:

What if these are BP employees impersonating Coast Guard personnel?

Just using intimidation and criminal bluffing to scare off CBS & anyone else?

The fact that it is on camera means either these Coast Guards are in violation of the Constitution,

Or that BP can add impersonation of US military personnel to their list of crimes.

We are so passive anymore we never question or challenge anything anymore,
most especially some joker in some kind of 'official' uniform.

Although the US military is so treasonously embedded with criminal corporations, maybe it becomes almost indistinguishable.

Don't for a minute think that "Corporate America" is "running the show" — that may have been the case 70 to 100 years ago, but Corporate America isn't the big, bad boogie man anymore.

Consider, more realistically, that a handful of Multinational Conglomerates and global financial institutions essentially own Corporate America, as well as our simpering socialist government, our educational institutions and our mass media.

It's Multinational Globalists who are making your laws, shredding your Constitution, killing your religions, indoctrinating the simple-minded, feeding you toxic fast-foods, wiping your ass and putting you to bed every night.

It's quite concerning to me how little this is being reported and how it's being viewed by the public right now. Talking about it with the people I know, very few know anything about it and those that do only know a blurb or so. Online on message boards I frequent that have nothing to do with news or alternative subjects it's considered a small problems and is laughed at for getting so much attention from "conspiracy theorists." What alarms me the most is how much shady and corrupt things surrounding this (BP paying off States, Government protecting BP, very slow action) are simply being ignored. This seems to have all the signs of being an epic disaster.

However maybe Rush Limbaugh is right. Maybe we're all just over-reacting and the earth just magically heal itself.
