The only thing stupid was all those people who were supporting the boycotts. I believe you were one of the supporters bellowing such support. Now when things get serious, you wana get down more ludicrous actions.

Yep, I'm boycotting Arizona. My very tanned GF from Lubbock and I just don't need the hassle of being stopped for our papers because she might me an Illegal Mexican. I love the golf courses in Scottsdale and Sedona. I'm sure they will be fine without my money. I've also planned to forgo any business/sales trips to Arizona. They can buy my products elsewhere. I don't need the money anyway.

I'm all for border protection but targeting Hispanics and making them a scapgoat for what should be solved along the border; not state wide.

[edit on 18-5-2010 by whaaa]

Well with all due respect it's not blonde hair blue eye albino germans sneaking across the border. Like others have posted the govt dropped the ball and state officials are doing what they can to stop the problem. If anyones to blame here it would be the people that are crossing the border without the legal right to. Everyone wants to say profiling but say we got attacked by a canadian speaking person, one way to narrow down who it might be is to have that person speak, and listen for an accent. Now would that be profiling too? Or just using the facts and evidence thats available. Sure some people will abuse the power but until the gobment decides to start taking border securing seriously this is what we got, what other options are there? I may be wrong in my thinking but I live near the northern border and we have tons of cameras and patrols around here so I see how they secure it up here. Seems to work so far.

Well ya know if Arizona removes its water rights from CA then more water will flow to Mexico. There ya go LA. You can help Mexico in the end, but to the detriment of your residents...What you dont care?

I am so proud of Arizona!

I am going to go out and purchase a Diamondbacks jersey!

Arizona will have the last laugh, if this laws sticks, and i believe it will. We are going to see a mass exodus of Arizona's welfare trash to surrounding states! And their drugs/crime will be soon to follow.

Once this happens Arizona will have more money to help balance the budget which could lead to tax incentives that would entice business to move into the state! Tax breaks that could not be matched by AZ's neighbors as they will be forced to cough up more money to pay for the incarceration/medical bills/housing/welfare benefits for thousands of illegal immigrants that don't deserve them...

But hey! At least they wont be racist!

I don't think it is going to work out like this. I mean all the legal welfare recipients won't have to leave so their drugs/crime will still be there and illegal dealers are already outside the law so they ain't going anywhere either.

I'd like to see this mayor force LAX to boycott US Airways airline, which pays landing and terminal fees, buys fuel and flies thousands of people into LA regularly.

US Airways is based in Phoenix, and employs about 10,000 people.

Maybe Arizona should boycott LA, and stop doing business there?

This is crazy and childish.

Arizona is only guilty of trying to enforce FEDERAL laws where the federal government has completely failed to do so and has allowed this illegal immigration to become such a major problem that a state feels compelled to take action where the fed will not.

Maybe the feds should have done their job then..

Then we would have a tollerable ( resource wise ) amount of illegals in here that couldn't hurt our country in any way...

A few illegals isn't going to ruin us and is welcomed in my book...but they obviously let too many into one specific area......so something had to be done..

I actually like the states taking some control back...It's how it should be ...well not total there needs to be BALANCE.....which is lacking in many ways in our country..

The government has been screwing the people when FDR opened the door to socialism and appointed justices to do his bidding. Ever since those days a shadow government has been in charge behind the puppet government we see today.

Just because there is puppet master pulling the strings of the corruptocrats in Washington, doesn't mean the people who are fighting for the constitution are one of the same.

You are quoting Thomas Jefferson, and then go on to accept defeat. Governments are only in power because the people let them and especially as our constitution states.

If you consider yourself a citizen and believe in the philosophy of the Thomas Jefferson, you will understand what he meant when he said...

".....Enlighten the people generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day...

People are getting Enlightened generally and no longer shall the Citizens remain silent. We have remained silent too long on while our government goes unchallenged by its citizenry. The ILLEGAL Immigration issue shall not be allowed to continue the way it has been.

Couldn't be further from the truth. And how amazing you play that game.

The new law is repulsive and screams Nazism. It's amazing how those who don't want the government involved with anything actually support this bill. It's a violation on our rights. Probably just as bad as the Patriot Act.

OK here I go, I do not rant much but I have been watching the illegal population build in my area over the past decade or so and I am PISSED OFF at what they do and what they get away with.
So I propose that in the state of Washington, the State Patrol set up road check points randomly, to check people for proper driver's license and insurance, and to check for proper documentation ragarding legal status. I would be happy to carry all of my necessary paperwork with me wherever I go.
People, we have a PROBLEM, and the PROBLEM is a huge, resource-draining illegal population. They are ILLEGAL!!! Breaking the LAW!!! When in in the #### is the law enforcement community going to start enforcing the LAWS?? Sure as heck if I get caught speeding or dead tabs or some other law I break, I will get caught and fined. They will not look the other way.

Why the damn double standard?

GO ARIZONA!!! I am behind you 100 percent.

Well it is about to get ugly, just heard of LA mayors response. The man just does not know when to shut up or the word compromise. All his remarks are going to do is make the following happen: Arizona is going to cut the power, cut the water and refuse to take any more prisoners from the state of California. California is about to feel a pinch that is going to really make things difficult.

This is great, I was hearing about it on Fox just a little while ago. Jan Brewer is really standing up to Washington, and I am really proud of her. The whole immigration thing is broken, and you can't fix it with politics, no matter how much paper you throw on the border, it will not help. We do not need any new laws, we already have one...

Protection Against Invasion Clause
Article IV:Section 4

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican
Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on
Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature
cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

Constitution
We Americans would feel the same way if any foreigners invaded out country.

OK, OK,,,, My wife got a traffic ticket yesterday evening from a Phoenix, Police Officer. He was a little upset with her and I can understand why, She was going rather FAST! My wife has a LEAD FOOT. ( as we old people use to call some one driving to fast )

Any way, as some of you know (from our profile) my wife is from China, Yes Main Land China not Thailand.

My wife primary language is Mandarin Chinese and when she is scared or upset she falls back to Mandarin
I find it funny, but most people don't.
Any way, this poor Officer has a scared Chinese lady stopped, she has never been stopped before, (I don't understand her luck) and she is rambling in Mandarin and English and starting to cry

The Officer did ask her if she had her D/Licence and proof of insurance.
No problem there except I think the wife wanted to piss on her self she was so scared.
She asked the Officer, you want proof I'm an America? The Officer said No, Your driver licence and proof of insurance is all I need, both address's match and all your info matches.

The wife is REALLY DISAPPOINTED NOW! She has her Voters Registration card out and the copy of her Nationalization Certificate out and all the Officer needs is her D/Lic. and Proof of Insurance.

So, all you Haters of Arizona and our laws, All You That Want To Call Us Racist! BITE ME!

You want to know why, I can guarantee you with my wife up set, that Officer had to question her Citizenship in his own mind. Are there illegal Chinese or other Orientals in Arizona, YES! So, The Proof is in your Wallet, Car or Handbag. Driver Licence, Proof of Insurance and all matching information.

To the OP, I dd not want you to think I high jacked your thread, To much respect for you my friend, Please forgive me if you thought that.

I did not accept defeat, I pointed out the lethargy that the citizenry has been in for the last century.

You say they are getting enlightened and will no longer remain silent. I believe that it has gotten to the point where speaking up is too little too late and I also believe that alot of citizens are willing to believe in political promises. I mean they keep doing it and I've heard people talk bad about the government forever so it isn't like they don't know.

What enlightenment are they waiting for?

No my friend, I think your story just illustrates the fantasy some of these sympathizers want to live in. ACLU filed a litigation for a 70 y/o man whith Chinese/Mexican lineage who claimed to have been harrassed by law enforcement demanding he show them papers to prove citizenry as he was walking on the sidewalk.

ACLU is actually filed this, the kicker of this bulls**t story is that the Laws don't take affect until July and no law enforcement would have taken steps as mentioned in the ACLU filing and to which you now confirm with your story.

Thank you for sharing such crucial info,

Given that its very unlikely you have even read the law based upon your ignorant post, specifically what sections of the law border on Nazism?

Do yourself a favor and actually get educated on a topic before you choose to debate it.

All the states bordering Arizona should make those with Arizona plates show their papers to cross their borders and pay for a visa for all those in the vehicle.

Sure lets do that. But lets enforce the laws we currently have. If they find people here illegally, then send them away to be sent out of the country. Your visa argument is so weak, it doesn't even warrant debate.

Law abiding citizens of the U.S. shouldn't have a problem proving their nationality. Heck you can even racially profile White Males for all I care, as long as you enforce the laws of the land.

Your More Than Welcome.
You Know As Well As ME! The ACLU is a bunch of Liberals only making up stories to further their case, Which is BullSh%t and we know it.

I think you'll find this interesting: A few years ago, back in China, My wife was assigned to follow and take notes of what the members of the visiting ACLU committee in China at the time were interested in.

Yup, The Chinese Central Committee did not trust them and thought they were a danger to their Communist Party.
You have to agree, The Central Committee in China knew a bunch of liberals was nothing but Liars and Trouble Makers.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but California is not a state that even respects its own constitution.

Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws. (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following: (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status.

This makes me think... why not boycott the Federal government?
How? Stop sending tax dollars to DC.
