USAID funding Israel's apartheid road construction

The construction of sections of a controversial segregated road network in the West Bank planned by Israel for Palestinians -- leaving the main roads for exclusive use by settlers -- is being financed by a US government aid agency, a map prepared by Palestinian researchers has revealed.

USAID, which funds development projects in Palestinian areas, is reported to have helped to build 114 kilometers of Israeli-proposed roads, despite a pledge from Washington six years ago that it would not assist in implementing what has been widely described as Israel's "apartheid road" plan.

Hardly surprising really. USAID have been involved in many shady constructions and policy initatives abroad.

Back to this building of roads for the Palestinians. Washington under Bush had promised not to involve themselves in the building of these roads which are widely seen as 'apartheid' roads by both the U.S. and majority of the international community. But 23 % of these roads have been built with USAID money.

U.S. hypocrisy in regards to Israel and the Palestinians knows no bounds.

One week you think the U.S. may actually start to seriously pressure the Israelis into showing the Palestinians some respect and care, then you read something like this.

A lot of the Israeli defenders who are members of this site seem to have dissapeared as of late. Mabye even they are turning against the state under Netanyahu's nutter coalition?

The story is more focused on the U.S. role in isolating and humiliating the Palestinians by making them use different roads to the settlers of the illegal settlements in the West Bank.

No it is not really shocking i aggre, in particular as that god awful institution USAID is involved.
