Arab-American From Michigan Crowned 2010 Miss USA

www.newsmax.com

A 24-year-old Arab American from Michigan beat out 50 other women to take the 2010 Miss USA title Sunday night, despite nearly stumbling in her evening gown.

Rima Fakih of Dearborn, Mich., won the pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip after strutting confidently in an orange and gold bikini, wearing a strapless white gown that resembled a wedding dress and saying health insurance should cover birth control pills.

When asked how she felt about winning the crown, she said, "Ask me after I've had a pizza."

Fakih, a Lebanese immigrant, told pageant orga

Could this be staged to ease tensions with Muslim-Americans? It sure seems like it to me. I'm not one to follow these kinds of things, especially when there are much more important issues to deal with in our current times but this whole thing is suspect. Did she win only because she is Arabic? I'm sure she is a nice young lady and deserves her new title but there has been a trend lately here in America to where minorities are going to the front of the line as some kind of statement.

I don't doubt for a minute that TPTB use the media to push forward with their agenda and lately, there has been an emphasis on minorities.

Arab-American....OK, but is she a Muslim? Hmmmmmmm?

If she happens to be a Muslim, she would be a great role model for that community. Get rid of the damn burqua and shine!!!

Damnt I wish I was a pizza. She really is gorgeous and I doubt this win was orchestrated to placate muslims. If anything they are probably going to headbutt her or throw acid on her face.

Please do yourself a favor. If you actually have any real interest in Islam or relations with Islamic Nations, fundamentalists, whatever...please do some reading. A beauty pageant to win the hearts of Muslims is like pork chops to win over a Jewish person.

the american quilt , ..

to me this is just typical "generic" behaviour of someone without an identity,

i mean for crying out loud its like a bad disney tv soap script where they reveal the "bad guy" at the end of season 2 only to have him switch sides and become the good baddie who is evil but just as love hearted as the rest of the cast the middle of season 5.

this is how the sleeping masses are entertained

then again its not like this is the first time the u.s of a has soiled someone elses soil only to openly greet them afterwards like nothing has happened .

I agree that she is hot and no, I haven't seen her before those pics but these "events" have a tendency to make political statements, is all. What's even more suspicious, is that she states she has both Christian and Muslim influences at home and to me, that means that she is a Muslim, downplaying it to compete, to which I could really care less but unfortunately, most of America would.

Am I the only one seeing a trend with minorities getting the positive focus with the media and politics? Just look at Obama, then that goof, Michael Steele from the Republican Party, the Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor, all of the minorities in the new administration such as Erik Holder and now Miss USA.

I'm the last one to suggest that minorities shouldn't hold places of influence but I'm starting to wonder if they got there by the color of their skin and the current socioeconomic climate rather than by their merit. We have already heard Obama state (at least from what I can remember off the top of my head) something to the affect that he is choosing people specifically because they are minorities.

Lol, I'm not suggesting this was to win over the hearts of Muslims, rather to win over the hearts of Americas for Muslims.

How does that work? Where did it state she was a Muslim?

Am I missing something obvious here or are you really really really reaching?

I don't think there's any political motivation to the decision - having seen the photos of her, it's rather unsurprising that she was crowned champion.
I certainly wouldn't kick her out of bed, anyway.

What does irritate me is the divide and conquer tactics, playing people against each other and the highlighting of irrelevant differences.
What is the relevance of the media articles pointing out her ethnicity or her country of origin ? The headline should read: ''24-year-old From Michigan Crowned Miss USA''.

Most of this thread will be discussions surrounding the fact that she's Arab/Muslim, and therefore the divide and conquer tactics have succeeded.

I personally would rather congratulate this lady on her victory.

Fakih, a Lebanese immigrant, told pageant organizers her family celebrates both Muslim and Christian faiths.

Source: www.newsmax.com...

To me, this sounds like Muslim with a splash of Christian for the competition.

Edited to add: Again, I could care less about what religion or race she is, I was just merely pointing out a trend that I have been noticing of late.

Just my $0.02.

The MSM is telling the people who watch the TV that minorities are okay.
There is no reason to hate people of different nationality.
They are doing what they do best.

Programming people.

Yes, she is more than beautiful...
There are plenty of amazing women in that contest that, IMO, are more stunning.
Anyone notice what she said about the Health Care? Proponent?

To me, this is just another way of bringing light to the muslim-illegal immigrant-minority appeal in USSA.

Another reason? Look at the host of the MTV Music awards this year.
There are WAY funnier people than that guy to host the award show, but it seems that minorities are the popular thing now with the MSM.

Ahh....let the programming continue!

I have to say, this is a pretty accurate analogy. If anything, this would incite Islamic extremists (not ordinary Muslims), versus win their approval....

I'd hit it.

Didn't see the other contestants, so I can't make an accurate call on whether she should have won or not, but she is hot.

As for the conspiracy presented...

Maybe.

She would be the obvious Politically Correct ® choice to win.

But as long as you realize PC = BS, it can't harm you.
