Video of girls, 8, wearing lingerie and dancing in racy routine to Beyonce's Single Ladies causes internet row

A video of a group of young girls, some just eight-years-old, performing a racy dance routine to Beyonce's Single Ladies has caused an internet row. The footage, filmed at America's largest urban dance competition World of Dance, shows the girls in revealing red and black lingerie outfits writhing and gyrating on stage. And while some of the girls' parents have defended the video as 'completely normal', the routine has been deemed too raunchy for dancers of that age by shocked viewers.

First of all I think these young ladies are amazing dancers. That does not excuse what they were wearing and some of the moves however. I was fairly appalled by the dress and that parents of the girls seem to see no problem in allowing their children to dress this way. I realize that most of the pedophile comments on the videos are made in jest, but I guarantee there are some perverts salivating over the footage. I think little girls need to be allowed to be little girls. There is no need for an eight year old to be doing provocative dance moves while wearing skimpy clothes. Thoughts?

Disgusting!

Of all the dance routines they could have come up with, or costumes...

The parents of all these kids need to be slapped silly!

That's another good point. These girls are obviously extremely talented dancers. Why have them doing a pop routine?

The first thing that came to mind when looking at the video, was Britney Spears.

These girls really can dance, and it's a shame their parents want to exploit them at such young ages....

The could definately have picked something that would have shown the talent, versus the reaction people have when looking at this video.

As a dancer of nearly 20yrs those little girls are amazing dancers. It is not easy to do many of the moves they do - even for adults. I respect their talent.

The clothing. Eh. Im a little more liberal on that. I see nothing wrong with girls wearing 2 piece bathing suits or costumes - if they are not presented as sexy clothing and presented as sexual beings - as they are here. Im a bit more liberal on the body than many im sure. You can find similar things at various dance clothing stores, example but not sexy styles.

I do have issues with any sexual/sexy type moves. And I have issues with overt sexy outfits.

With that said - I feel that children's beauty pagents and the glam and glitz are far worse.

It get's worse.....

When will beyonce be exposed for the vicious pedophile that she is......

seriously though, I hate what this society is doing to little girls, and just women in general. Their not just watching these video's, their LEARNING from them, do beyonce and lady gaga really have to run around in underwear to make their music SOUND better. It's ridiculous.

there's so much emphasis on image and looks and no emphasis on actual ability, thats why most of the music of today sucks. but what actualy irks me, .... is that most of society are stupid enough to fall for it.

and in the end these things are seen as " acceptable".

This is very disturbing. Talented: For sure. In poor taste: For sure.

I feel sorry for these girls having such stupid parents. They are already being sexualized at a very young age. They could have just as well put on an entertaining show with lots of moves and dancing wearing appropriate cloths. This is a sympton of sick society in decay.

I actually agree that the clothing by itself wouldn't have necessarily been bad. By no means do I think such talented dancers should be wearing burlap sacks. I think the costumes were a bit too sexy, but when coupled with this particular dance it crossed the line of decency. I'm glad we have a dancer to comment on this.

I dunno...I think those girls have a lot of talent...maybe a little young for those moves though..if we protest something I think we should protest This video.

lingerie? What an imagination.

Shorts covered by fringe does not lingerie make.

It looks to me like they're wearing tights under those boots & shorts as well.

I couldn't make out the tops due to the fringe, but more is covered than if they came out with tube tops.

They see this kind of dancing every day on tv, do you really expect them not to copy it?

MOTHER OF GOD. My outrage knows no bounds. You are sick sir, very sick. The most frightening thing about that video is that it looks like the guy that works at the mini mart down the street
. Yikes.

umm..no I expect the parents and dance instructors to have some common sense and guide them in the right direction. They are little girls, they don't have a lot of wisdom or knowledge at that age.

I saw this video yesterday, and try as I might I couldn't come up with anything to justify the parents being "shocked" at the outrage.

I apologize if this seems harsh or out of place, but the parents of these girls signed off on dressing them up like burlesque wannabes... and these are nine and ten year old girls. It's disgusting on a level I can't even describe. If Beyonce and co. want to dress as such no worries, they're adults and that's their right - and believe me when my piggish self says I have no problem with it. To dress young girls up like this, to have them dance to a choreographed lap dance... it's atrocious. And I think the proof of this is the fact that somewhere, there in all liklihood is a pedophile drooling on himself over this.

These parents need the piss smacked out of them for being upset over the fact that people don't like this.

If a parent photographs a child in that outfit,
could they be arrested for child porn?
(if done at home, not in a 'show')

I do expect them to copy it. That is sort of the problem. The fact that the parents condone it is what really bothers me. If it were 15 year olds, I could almost understand. These girls are under the age of ten however. I find it appalling that you write it off as a non issue.
