Ocelot, 18 is already the law. It's the age of consent.

You can't raise the age to consent to being filmed, without raising the age to have sex legally.

Statutory rape for dating a 20 year old? I don't think so.

It's bad enough you can breed before being able to buy beer. Don't give 'em any more ideas.

I'm with the other people who want to know what the people with sexy avatars have to say about their avatar and their choice to ban porn. We've yet to get a straight answer...

My opinion is that it should not be banned, but perhaps yes it should come with stricter regulations and such (in internet porn for example). But I really don't see a need to make it illegal.

So how about it, avatar with the boobs hangin out, what say ye?

Sex is a question of values and cultures.

For example, the scandal about Janet's breast at superbowl would never happen in France or Italy, where we are more tolerant about nudity.

And in northern countryies like sweden or danemark, you can even go in the street completely naked if you want.

For porn it's different :

Some people say that porn is an "excipient" for some people with sexuals problems. They pretend that if porn was forbidden, there should be more sexual crimes. I'm not sure they are right, Because sometimes porn legitimate sexual perversions.

Where are you getting this? Who's not controlling what? Your statements lead me to conclude that you are talking about a specific person and not men in general.

Sex is the most intimate thing between two people, and I don't understand how people take it so lightly, or what anyone gets out of watching other people have it.

sex is fun...why is this so distasteful to you? My husband and I have been together over 10 years and love each other deeply. But gotta be honest with you, neither of us are thinking of that love when we're going at it.

Here's a little something for all you females to think about: It's impossible now to get men to respect us, all they view us as is a piece of a**.

I don't agree and again this sounds like a personal experience. All people come together as a result of attraction, that's natural, but they stay together by forming a bond. It sounds like your attracted to the wrong kind of guy.

Hell no, porn should not be illegal. I mean, the educational value alone justifies it's existance. There are tons of pointers on how to please your partner in every porn movie. Hell, I never even would have thought of having sex standing up if it wasn't for porn. Plus, all the other things porn has taught me; how to be a bad actor, how to trim my pubes to make my package appear larger, an appreciation for sleezy jazz...the list goes on and on.

Ban cell phones and all the pointless banter that goes on in the supermarket line an in cars, it kills more people when they least suspect it and annoys the rest. At least with porn, you can die with a smile on your face.

The ban porn arguement could be applied to beer and any type of drugs, gangster rap, fatty food, sexy ladies or any thing on the side of the highway during rush hour, medias forced view on whats cool.... If it were so easy to say porn is not needed, try to apply the same arguement to those things. Try refusing to smoke if you smoke or only eat healty food and never touch anything else.

I would also like to hear the counter to the avatars as well.

All of the reasons people have been giving for why porn should be illegal, are groundless. Several points are not being taken into consideration on this issue.

The most important reason that porn should not be illegalized, is that the government has no right to make laws which restrict the freedom of speech and expression. This is especially true since there is no clear definition of what constitutes pornographic material. Some would say Victoria Secret catalogues are porn, or any portrayal of nudity is pornographic. Others would say anything showing people engaging in, or pretending to engage in sexual intercourse, should be considered porn. Some people would declare anything that causes impure, carnal thoughts to be porn. Is porn only relegated to images or could just the audio recording of people having sex also fall into that category? Being a woman, and therefore not as visually driven as men, I would find an erotic audio recording to be more of a turn-on than a video.

People have the right to express themselves in whichever way they choose, provided they are not harming someone else in doing so (by forcing them to act against their will, not by just offending someone).
To allow the government to legislate morality, would be the worst thing we could possibly do. We are each responsible for defining our own moral values and standards, and we all have to live with the choices we make. Just because one person doesn't see value in something doesn't mean that it isn't valuable to someone else. Would you really want people to make laws based only on their subjective opinions, rather than on objective rational?

It was mOh you are right - men have sex drives - women have what? I don't see many women rushing out to find a male hooker. In fact most male hookers get their trade from men. I think it says something about men?
Women don't get hookers because it would be absurd for us to pay for sex when the only thing any woman has to do, is go up to a guy and ask him if he wants to get laid. Very rarely would such an offer be refused by an available guy. Men, on the other hand, spend most of their time trying to convince women to sleep with them. There are a lot more frustrated, single, horny men out there than there are women, which is why you see more female hookers.

It's a common misconception that since you don't see girls rushing out to buy porno mags or movies, guys must have no respect for monogamy or women. This is something girls have a hard time with, I know it took me a long time to come to terms with it.
A lot of women either don't realize or forget about the fact that guys are primarily visual creatures by nature. That is why women are the prettier sex, no offense guys. Women are designed to be visually stimulating to men, hence the soft skin, and the curves. Just because some guy stares at you or likes watching porn doesn't mean they don't have any respect for women. Guys will have as much respect for a woman, as that woman has for herself.
I love to wear sexy little outfits when I go out, but I have never had any guy disrespect me or behave inappropriately. I have seen it happen lots of times to other girls though. The difference is that, while I enjoy the attention, I am very conscious of the manner in which I carry myself. I don't carry myself like I'm an easy lay, or someone who is looking to score, so no one treats me as such.

Women get treated like meat because so many of them, lately, act like cheap whores. They are so busy trying to prove that they are just as sexual and liberated as men are, that they are giving alot of men the wrong idea about women.

Watching pornos, aside from the few who are addicted to them, does not cause infidelity or warp perceptions about the opposite sex. # like "Girls Gone Wild" , I think does, but that is not really considered porn. Most men are intelligent enough to know the difference between fanatasy and reality. Pornos are visual representations of mental fantasies. That's why women generally prefer erotic books or the like, we are aroused by mental/emotional stimuli rather than visual/tactile.

A lot of couples enjoy watching pornos together as a means of foreplay, to learn new tricks, or just to find different ways to improve their sex life. There are some great techniques and ideas to be found in pornos, and maintaining an active sex life is an extremely important aspect of most long term relationships/marriages. Sex is like the #2 reason for divorce (money is #1), but I bet if more wives started watching "dirty movies" with their husbands, that would cease to be the case.

Yes, little kids shouldn't be thinking of it at such a young age. Yet the media is shoving it down out throats, because the sad truth is that porn sell. You can see this on MTV and later on it can also be seen on MTV for the gay community.

Making it illegal would in a way make it more accessible to the younger kids, but not mainstream acceptance, more underground acceptance.

No, I don't think porn should be illegal. The point is moot however, as it is a multi-billion dollar industry, it's not going anywhere. Here's an idea, a small tax put on the industry that directly funds the fight against child pornography. That would help their image, and put funds into something 99.9% of people could get behind.

NO WAY......

Porn should not be banned. I think that the age to legally buy porn should be lowered. I will admit I am a teenage boy. I look at porn on the internet. But what makes no sense to me is that At the age of 16 you are able to have sex. At lest in certain states and my State Indiana is one of those states. The legal age of consent is 16 years old. But does it make sense that someone can not buy any sexual objects or porn until they are 18 or 21 in some places? I don't think it makes any sense at all. If you can legally have sex at the age of 16 why not be able to buy porn and sexual things. It makes no sense to me

My opinion: No porn should never be banned ever.

Sometimes they are really "borderline". Do you remember the scandal of the porn actress "Tracy LORD" ? She was minor in a major part of her movies, but there are no legal controls for the porn industry.

Yes, there ARE legal contracts in the industry. The scandal is that Tracy (Lords) intentionally misrepresented herself (she was 16 but claimed to be 18), and LIED to be in porn. It wasn't discovered that she lied about her age until way after the fact, and after she was 18.... (Hey, I was single for many years, I know this stuff, hehe....)

That argument doesn't hold. If a women needs to get laid, they look no further than their nearest bar or club - or even a friend. Or, they may pleasure themselves. Most guys will readily sleep with any women but most women will not readily sleep with most guys (there are some though) - hence, that is why you see certain types of men going out and getting hookers (there are of course many reasons for them doing so). Sex drives are just about equal in men and women - and sometimes it can actually be higher in women than men (many try to deny it). Still, it all comes down to the individual.

Most women just aren't having enough good sex, or sexual foreplay (most men don't focus on the woman as much as they should). I find foreplay to be extremely important for most women, and it should be. I hate to judge, but I think you fall into the category of someone who has not had enough good sex in their life, or they have been brought up from birth to think that sex is a heinous crime against humanity - such a sin!

Porn needs not be banned. I know of many relationships that have been saved, thanks to porn. How? Well, sex is very important in a relationship, and when it goes stagnant, the relationship will usually go stale also. Lack of communication is one of the biggest causes of relationship failures. Porn can bridge the sex communication gap between a couple. This in turn has the ability to open up more communication concerning other subjects. Because sex is usually the least talked about thing in a relationship, once you can actually feel comfortable about talking about it, other subjects aren't as hard to talk about anymore.

Porn can also be very entertaining for most couples - it helps them think of new and exciting things to try. People should always strive to try new and interesting things to make their relationships more exciting - especially when it comes to sex. We are sexual beings by nature and a good sex life is very beneficial to our mental health and well being.

Anyways, just a thought.

I don't know how many bad men you have had in your life, but please don't generalize. I have respected absolutely every single women in my life - even the mean ones. I have never raised my voice to a single women. I have never abused a women physically, mentally, or emotionally. I treat all women like goddesses. And you know what?

The ones who have had all the bad men in their life usually can't handle it when they actually find a good man. Most of us get comfortable with a situation, and when it changes (even if it is something we want in our heart), our minds tell us to sabotage it, subconsciously. And, most people usually do just that, sabotage the relationship because of underlying fears.

The fact is, if you've never known real love in your life, when you find it, the odds are you'll get freaked out by it and run. Most people live by this one saying without knowing it: Happiness in misery.

Porn isn't the problem - the individuals are the problem. If a male child see's his father disrespecting his docile mother throughout his years, then that child might start to think that it is okay to disrespect women. It is the same way for a female child. If she see's mom disrespecting docile dad, then what is she going to think when she grows up? This isn't the case with all children, because our brains all work so differently.

My brother had to live through the years of my father's abuse against my mother (they had divorced by the time I was two, so I didn't have to live with it) and he definately didn't grow up to be disrespectful toward women. He treats them as I treat them - perfect. He has told me that what got him motivated to be as successful as he is, is his poor view of our father - he didn't want to be anything like him. So, he made a concious effort not to be like him. You see, it is all up to the individual to be who they want to be. Male and female.

I don't objectify women, nor would I ever think of doing so. I don't objectify anything in my life. But that is me. I'm defending individuality - so please don't stereotype all males as being sex hungry porn mongerers who only care about their next sex session.

Trust me...men don't respect women. If a girl doesn't put out right away, the guy gets tired of waiting. Girls for the most part want to be with a guy for romance, whereas guys wants to be with a girl for sex. Pornography is to blame. Guys have it in their heads that us females only purpose is to please them.

Wow that's a really ignorant statement. And it makes me pretty angry. I take pride in the fact that I'm a "good man". I don't go after girls only for sex, I'm actually a huge fan of romance. Sex is an afterthought for me. I've only had sex with 2 girls (one of which is my girlfriend of a year now) and I've dated a lot of girls. I don't have it in my head that females are only to please, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't make foolish ignorant statements like that.

Whats with the double standard? A guy says that all girls are only there to please and he's a pig. But a girl says that all guys are pigs and only want sex and she's a feminine freedom fighter or something? What gives?

Please, next time you think about posting such an ignorant stereotype like that atleast write "a lot of guys" or "many guys" not "all guys" because you're dead wrong.

As for porn being illegal... Should we outlaw all nudity? All sex? Because it's very hard to define porn. Is it a naked woman? If so, when I look at my girlfriend naked should that be illegal? Is it looking at people having sex? If i were ever to be involved in some kind of threesome, would that be illegal if I was watching? Questions we must ask ourselves...

Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning I see. Why does a person need porn if their having sex anyways?

Am I the only one here who's mind isn't in the gutter?
