Yes, Nancy is a nasty scank. The three creatures, Soetoro, Reid and Pelosi are ruining this country as much as possible before they lose any more leverage. They must have a promise of a position in the New World Order. Of course they do.

considering the artists themselves would also be paying for their own health insurance, because that is mandated, how are they possibly wasting taxpayer money?

S/He's (sorry don't know your gender Piddles) got a point here. The HCB mandated people pay for their insurance, it also mandates insurance portability-in other words if you quit your job you get to keep your insurance at an affordable rate. I actually didn't support the bill because it's unfundable in the current environment. I will admit this is probably what Pelosi meant though. Not that I like Pelosi much considering she voted for 90% of what ole' Bushel Britches demanded.

As for the comment about drugs and beating women made by someone else....That's all you listen to? I would hope music goes way beyond that. Personally I prefer this kind of thing myself:

Now, people take art for granted because we have in truth never lived without it. If it is absent someone makes it because it is a natural human inclination. Hell, I hum in quiet waiting rooms. Seems to make people happy.

The Op is a liar, and his opinion is misinformed.

anymore" wah wah I hafta pay for this waaaaa" and my head is going to explode. For crying outloud, this very same crowd of anti-obama posters was all up in arms about him making it mandatory for people to pay for their insurance

did you guys forget about that all of sudden? the article doesn't state she's giving artists a free ride. let me repeat, the OP's opinion and thread title are spun exaggerations as well as his source video having been edited

mandatory payment of health care prevents exactly what all of you are complaining about.

Sign me the hell up. I'm sick of being a slave to the corporate system. I don't need very much money at all to live. Let's get with it and stop screaming SOCIALISM like it's the equivalent of BOO!

You don't scare me. Continue to cry about it as much as you want, you know, about people getting something for free. We CAN afford it, you've just forgotten how. In other words, brace yourselves, for the times, they are a'changing.

As a musician, you can rest assured I will not be quitting my job and relying on the taxpayers to float me.

Some of us do have some pride and self-respect.

The healthcare bill is still being interpreted and written into law. But so far,
the legislation is indeed going to benefit those who make the least amount
of money.

What Nancy Pelosi said is indeed true. If you earn less than $14,000 a year,
you will have a choice of Free Medicaid, or $450 a month from the
government to help you buy a good health insurance policy... starting in
2014.

But, having free healthcare coverage won't put food on your table, or pay
your rent. Well.. I suppose food stamps will be given to those who quit their
jobs, but the rent issue is still there. Maybe Pelosi will author a bill to give
rent/mortgage vouchers to the unemployed next?

By the way, why would a musician quit his/her job to focus on becoming a
better musician? Isn't on-the-job training the best way to improve ones'
musical skill? Her logic seems flawed. -cwm

LuL. Will health care give you a bed to sleep in and food to eat. The level of stupidity present in that woman's mind boggles my own sometimes.

In actuality, we SHOULD be headed towards a world where menial tasks are predominately handled by machines and creative exercises are the only tasks left to humans. However, that should only occur under circumstances that allow everyone to live at optimal level. Not lower everyone to "just enough to get by" levels. Creating a huge gap between leaders and citizens. Granting the incapable and perverted government even more ridiculous power.

Such a "utopia" needs to be embraced by a society where power is not focused on anywhere that it can be abused without calling immediate attention and response. Where everyone is living at the highest possible level.

The point is, this isn't a beneficial move. It is a power-grab.

-------------

I hope that one day we can get to the point that we can peacefully live amongst one another and concentrate on more important things than crunching numbers for the sake of not starving to death. And just crunch numbers because we feel like crunching numbers. Or painting a picture. Baking a cook. Flying a plane. Or just learning as much as we possibly can about any given subject, without having to simply choose one.

How sad is it to get a job you hate simply because you have to? You have no other alternative. Some people want that alternative and rather spend their time doing more meaningful things than honing skills in fields they don't give a crap about for years, and retire having lived a life they didn't really care to live.

Naw they just don't think past their digital dollars in the bank. It hasn't hit them yet that when the money is no longer any good, they will be on the same level as everyone else. That's when we can kick their butts down the sidewalk.

Sound like you are one of the blind followers. Get informed, get a job, and take care of yourself. Stop relying on others to do what you refuse to do for yourself, it is sickening.

You're 100% correct. But until the time comes when EVERYONE can do this, it's simply not fair for the rest of us who do wake up to jobs we dislike, just to pay the bills and pay taxes. I can't stand the idea of working 40 hours a week and paying taxes so some artist can lay around his apartment all day drawing crap on a canvas or some musician can sit around on the flute all day while I break my back.... Get your mind out of the gutter already

You know whats sad though? People really want it. They really want someone to comfort and clothe them from the cradle to the grave.

The majority of young people don't *want* to do anything "hard", or "inconvenient" anymore.

They want it handed to them because they have been babied and told they are "special", because to tell them anything else was cruel. Teachers are urged to "treat everyone equally" so as not to pyschologically harm the children. Don't give them anything lower than a C, because they cannot handle it emotionally.

You cannot tell a child to suck it up anymore. You cannot make a child do something productive without them whining about how it isn't "fair".

Young people don't want to get "tied down to a job" 40 hours a week. They don't want to work for what they get, but they sure don't mind the rest of us doing it for them.

This is where they got the majority vote from, a younger generation of "progressives" and an older generation of "democrats" that never expected things were going to go this way. They had no idea.

Some of them still don't, because they are blinded by Hope 'n Change, or flat out greed. "I won't have to worry about my mortgage, or putting gas in my car now that Obama has been elected!" Woo. Hoo.

Some form of socialism will ultimately be embraced in the future. Socialism, by principle, is not inherently negative. People have come to associate it with negative parallels because of the empires of old that have FAILED at implementing it CORRECTLY. We think socialism and what is the first thing to come to mind for most of us? Totalitarian regimes. Abusive, deceitful governments with way too much power.

We require a de-centralization of government. We require an abundance of resources so that people don't have to go without. The majority of crimes in the world are bred from environments which permeate scarcity and poverty.

In truth, everyone deserves the basics.

----

I don't care what anyone says, capitalism is a system based on taking advantage, capitalizing. Which pulls people away from their own humanity and has them thinking, "How do I take advantage of this situation for my own benefit, how do I profit?" It is sickening.

Do you realize how sickening it is to watch advertisers spill half-truths about their products? Do you realize that market research has to do with finding out how to tickle people until they buy what you're selling? Advertisement campaigns based on implanting messages in our heads so that we'll look there way and buy what they're selling.

Strategies to keep negative information away from us until after transactions.

Boasting manipulated positives about products, only to later reveal to you, through convoluted semantics that they did not indefinitely state their product would do what they claimed it would.

This system disgusts me. The biggest plus side of capitalism is that a nobody can become a someone overnight. But this is based solely on importance and marketing, deceitful campaigns and trends.

A utopian society would look after its people and think less about how it could pander to specific interests in order to gain dominance over certain markets.

But again, true utopia will not come from politicians forcing it upon us. We must willingly accept it and bring it to fruition. We'll need to finally acknowledge that the skirmish for dollar bills and the lying awake at night worrying about financial commitments isn't worth it.

-------------------

I don't advocate socialism because I personally believe governments are a joke.

I believe Confucianism is right to assert that people that know what is good and right and practice it accordingly are in no need of police/politicians/governments/etc.

In short, the biggest positive to take away from socialism is simply the concept of giving a damn about your fellow man, and embracing a more humanitarian spirit.

Giving government more power? Allowing them to support us? To regulate what resources are available to us and decide who gets what and who doesn't? Forcing themselves upon us and telling us where we spend the fruits of our efforts? No #ing thanks. Eff that #.

Capitalism is NOT evil. But MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY people use it to commit acts of evil. And to me, that focus on monetary gain is absolutely disgusting.
