Actually the naturalization process is not that difficult. Might entail a bit of homework on the part of the citizen to be. What is difficult is what the illegals would get with amnesty and that is permanent residency (green card).

Also the only things that permanent resident is not entitled to, that a citizen is, are certain government jobs, the right to vote or run for office.
